General questions about network blogs
« on: January 12, 2012, 11:46:35 AM »
Reading through these threads has been very interesting :)  I have a few questions about the network blogs

It sounds like you basically just put a blog into the network.  Very general in nature because articles from all niches/genres will be placed here.

1) is it okay to monetize these?  If yes, any specific monetization to stay away from?

2) supposed to keep any "money" blogs off these same class C IPs?  e.g. one of the  c class ip hosting says it can host up to 25 domains on the 5 class ips, but for the purpose of 1WL is it better just to put up 5 different network blogs on the 5 class ips and no other type of site? (at least internet marketing site we are wanting to make money from)

3) indexing of posts on these sites are automatically done by 1WL?  So we don't have to go to the extra trouble to do it ourselves to help out the blog network?

4) what other things can be done to help out the network blogs?

Thanks!

Emil

Hi,

1. If you want. But you should stay away from adsense. :)

2. I don't see why you can put money sites on the same IP address.

3. You should be backlinking your articles so they pass more link juice onto your money sites. A ton of blog posts will give your bscklinks more diversity, but you want a bit more than that, yes? :)

4. More backlinks to them, and other optimization by the owners such as %postname% in the permalink settings and an xml sitemap.  The all in one SEO pack may help as well but doing all this for 50 blogs will take a long while. :)

If you have a lot of blogs to install with basically the same settings then take a look at this: http://www.wpdesktop.com/

With this tool you set up an initial package and then you just press da button and you get all your sites installed onto your server(s). You can do most of the preconfiguring and if you want to, most of the customisation from this tool. later you can use it to manage upgrades and other changes as well as managing much of your content management.

For less than $30 it is one of the real internet marketing/webmaster bargains!

By the way, I'd just like to give a shout out to the guys at wpdesktop.com. They have made for me a customised link insertion script based upon one of their products. The price was reasonable, the job done is great and a problem that I have not been able to deal with elsewhere has been dealt with very effectively.

Hey!  Thanks for the tips and for the pointer to the wpdesktop software.   I will have to go check that out.  Sounds basically like you can set up templates and then deploy them quickly.  Not only that but also do some change management as well.  That would come in handy.
