Author Topic: IMPORTANT: update your 1WL blog users to Editor status! (Read 4959 times)

The 1way system calls for "Accept posts of general interest. You have no way to control what gets posted to your blog, and posts will not be in any specific niche." After allowing this sytem on a number of my blogs for some 3 years I find clearly lot of posts that I am only happy to hide under "Uncategorized". I feel by allowing Categories that I absolutely do not care for to be visible this "improvement" I feel may result in having Categories under my blog that just absolutely do not have anything to do with my blog for all my visitors to see wondering why "I blog on those unrelated topics". Wouldn't be a way to be able to select first Categories one wants on one's blolg thus making sure only posts in those categories will be added?

I have had them all set to admin from day one, and this category idea is probably the right thing to do. Shouldn't be a big deal. As far as email spam from the blog, er, moderation post request, you can just set up an email rule to file those appropriately.

I have also updated my blog accounts, and the message is still there. What are we supposed to do after we make the adjustment to our user roles? Thanks.

You don't have to do anything else. It can take up to 24 hours for the new credentials to take effect.

At the risk of sounding wordpress illiterate, how do we "modify the blog users you have configured in 1WayLinks from our original recommended Author status to Editor status"?

Is this done in my actual Wordpress account on my server, or is it done somewhere in 1waylinks itself?

Users>Role (dropdown) select Editor & Save

It's on your wordpress blog / your server. Not in 1wl blog list.
You should create a new user for 1wl under "users"
Then under "role" select the role you want.

Make sure to update the username in 1wl if you create a different one.

It's funny that you mention this now. I remember a few years back when you started 1WL your users recommending that you place posts in categories instead of just uncategorized... Now I'm recommending videos and other media be added to make the posts even more relevant and of higher quality.. Guess we'll see..

A little confused, I set up all my blogs with only one user the admin, and its therefore under administrator status. So what should I do? Add another user as editor? I don't see anywhere in the 1way account area when i set up the blogs where it asked which user to post from.

If your blogs are setup using Admin you should be ok.

I still see the warning sign when i login, and i started going through the process of submitting a post and did not notice anywhere to edit categories, how do i enable that function?

You can't post to categories until all of your blogs are updated and returning a proper response to the 1WL server indicating their ability to accept new categories.
