Too many posts

Hey guys,
Not sure if I'm being spammed or the links ungrade (increase) is out of control but I've had almost 1,000 comments since Jan 20th and I've been forced to trash them all until I can work out where they are coming from. I don't think google would be happy with that sort of comment count. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Was this meant for 1waylinks? Comments are not put on the blog posts via 1WL, so they must be coming from somewhere else.

Do you have the spam protection plugin Akismet installed?
If not then you REALLY need it.

If you do not have it installed then you can get it from here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/akismet/ or install directly from within the plugins control panel in your blog(s)

If you have it installed there is no need to delete stuff. You can tick a box in the settings which will delete all spam after 30 days, it never gets seen by visitors and is removed without you doing anything.

I would also recommend to install the "bad behaviour" plugin - it will kill off a lot of the comment spam even before it has to be checked by akismet.
