Installation difficulties
« on: September 20, 2009, 01:13:23 PM »
I purchased AA yesterday.
I have my registration code.
However, it doesn't get accepted and no matter what I do, I stay on the start page with no way of making AA function.

Sometimes I get a window saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately...... Access to the path ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Answer Analyst\ license txt is denied’".

If I click on 'continue' I can get some questions to show up but then another Unhandled Exception window appears. This time it says “Object reference not set to an instance of an object.” If I click on ‘continue’ I keep getting the “Object reference………” window, so I get nowhere.

If I click on ‘details’ in either window I’m introduced to JIT Debugging and instructed to have the "jit Debugging value set in the system.windows.forms section". However, I cannot locate this. I have a file called ‘system’ but it is empty.

Normally I'd try re-installing but I seem to have accidentally deleted the download details.  (I'm nearly 75 and my concentration isn't what it used to be.)
By the way, at one point last night, a window appeared saying I needed an update but it was well past my bedtime and I had to stop rather than risk tiring myself out. That window hasn’t appeared today.

Instead, Microsoft popped up and said I "probably needed .NET" but I have it already. Later it said I needed to install Adobe Flash player 10! I have it anyway but I don't see what it's got to do with AA.

To sum up, I badly need help.

Are you running windows 7? I am having the exactly the same issue. I followed the path and noticed that license.txt didn't even exist, so I created it. No cigar.  I then changed all the permissions for the whole folder to "full" for everyone, but no go.

So, I then installed it on a Vista computer on my network and everything went like clockwork. The software AND password installed easily and everything worked GREAT....but...... I don't want to use this computer.......My main computer is the one I want to use....PUH-Leaze.....! I just bought it....Gateway with a hyperthreading quad core I7 processor,  with 12 gigs of ram....just the Nvidia video card alone on this thing has more ram on it than my P4 running Vista does, for crying out loud! This Gateway runs like it is on steroids! So, if we can't get Jon's cool little piece of software to run on it I will be really disappointed! LOL!

Nanda, I figured it out......

"Right click" on the program icon, and then click "run as administrator" . You shouldn't get any more error messages, and once you  input your serial number, everthing will run fine.

Take care,
Mike

I have to correct myself....for some reason, you have to run AA as administrator each time you start it, but you only have to input your serial number the once. No big deal, just remember to "right click" and click on "run as administrator" each time you want to use it.

Regardless of having to remember to "run as admin", I absolutely love this "cool tool"!

Leger, you've done it again! I have every version of Instant Article Wiz u ever put out, and even the first one (the desktop version) was "Da Bomb!"...and you just kept on improving it!

Thankyou!
Mike

Good Afternoon, Nanda.
I just purchased AA. I downloaded the software, then I opened it, for the first time, and I received a message that asked for the "code". I had the code copied when I saw it on the download page. After I pasted the code, I also got an answer to say that the code was incorrect.
I went to my email, and found a welcome message from either AA or Jon Ledger, i am not sure which, with also a code. I copied and went back to the software, and when I pasted the code again (this time from the email), it was successful.

yes...I think it is because of the 64 bit system. Just start up with a right mouse click instead of a left, click "run as administrator,  and the program will run great.

Take care,
Mike

You need to run the application as "admin" on Vista and Windows 7 systems.

If you RIGHT CLICK on the application name in your START MENU, you should see a small menu appear. Near the bottom you should see RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

If you click on that the application should run fine.

If you want to avoid having to do that each time, RIGHT CLICK on the application name and choose PROPERTIES. A new window should appear with tabs near the top. Click on COMPATIBILITY. Near the bottom of that screen you should see RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. If you check that box and then APPLY, it should remember the setting for you in the future.

HI,
I am a new member, having just purchased this.
However, I am having problems opening it, I am assuming because I have a Mac.
Does this work on a MAC?
Thanks
John
