To Improve The Quality Of Posts On Your ArticleBuilder Blogs

ArticleBuilder is great, loads of readable content and unique all the way.

One issue I came upon is this: While the system is full of content, for obvious reasons, there are fewer title combinations than there are article combinations. In a site that gets content from several sources as well as ArticleBuilder there is, over the course of time the chance that oneis going to get articles that have the same title.

WordPress handles the issue automatically by adding a number after the title in the URL of the page or post but I don't like to see it. Even less do I like the thought that because I have been posting from several sources that I get articles that are duplicated on my site with the only difference between them being the number '2' after the URL.

For quite some time, on all the automated websites I make for internet marketers, I have been using a little plugin that does a simple job, perfectly.

Duplicate Posts Eraser http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/duplicate-posts-erazer/ simply deletes any posts with the same title from the database before they get chance to be seen by humans or search engines. It is automatic, nothing to play with. Now you can be sure that you are not making duplicate content or duplicate titles on your website without even thinking about it.

Use this and increase the quality of your website content in a second. ;)

Hey Andrew,

Thanks for that tip. I've added it to one of my key blogs that has many posts auto-blogged to by Article Builder.

How do you know if it's working? I don't see any deleted posts in the Posts panel.

You will not see them, they never get to the database. ;)

It should not happen very much anyway, the chance of a duplicated title is not high in most cases. As a duplicate gets posted the plugin shunts it off into the aether. ;)

Thanks for the tip Andrew

I wonder if there is a way to alert us of a duplicate title instead of deleting it. The reason being that since the articles are semi-unique all we may need to do is edit the title. Thus not throwing out the baby with the bath water.

I'd not worry about it. ;)

Your page will have a suffix added to the URL to ensure differentiation and you should already be going through your site daily or at least weekly, yes?

In that case don't use the plugin but just look at the URLs of your new articles. These days you can edit the title AND the URL of your posts from within the WP edit panel.

We are finding that indexing of duplicate titles within the same site is just not a problem - the content will always be very different. The same applies when a title is the same as used elsewhere on the WWW. Such duplication is bound to occur and can't be avoided.

We use the Duplicate Posts plugin as a convenience for our clients, not because it is necessarily the best way to go. ;)
