It's a ghost town here
« on: July 28, 2010, 06:22:31 AM »
Was just wondering if anyone has heard anyhing about anything dealing with C4L. Is this pretty much it, an artilce or two being needed by someone occasionally, with virtually no chance what so ever of being the one to get the assignment? I guess I do have a chance it just seems that way. I'm keeping a positive attitude, just thought I would ask.

Happy Trails!!!  :D

Do not lose hope.. I am sure Jon has great plans for this opportunity and will think of a way to bring in more advertisers

Too many writers, too few advertisers.  ::)

That's what happens when you have stupid rules that serve no purpose. Add to that the $100.00 minimum, and what do you get? No advertisers.

There is absolutely no reason for there to be restrictions on the subject matter of sites included. It might make sense if the system were automated, and you had no control over who you link to, or who links to you, but this system is entirely voluntary. If you log in and see sites on subjects you don't approve of, you don't have to link to them. Those who are ok with the subject matter can and will. It's a win win for everyone. Most of the people here are adults. They don't need babysitting.

I don't think the rules are the problem here...

Much more of an issue is that the vast majority of link requests are grabbed by a couple of writers who've automated the process.

They're able to post links onto content that they already have - which is fine - but the problem is that a LOT of those pages (usually on Gather.com) aren't in the Google index.

So the links on them aren't worth much unless the advertiser then does something else to GET the pages indexed.  At that point, the links don't look such good value any more.

If advertisers could choose which authors to work with, and which sites they'd like their links to appear on, this would become a much more attractive place to advertise.

Now, see my notes on my suggested feature, Instant Article Marketing.. in the new product part of the forum. Scroll to where I write of how to get money upfront from affiliate programs. With the software I am proposing for development.. Instant Profit Wizard and Instant Article Marketing you could create many income streams very easily. Imagine getting 10 affiliate programs sending you $20 each upfront... per day!   8)

I agree with 7Driver.

As a Cash4Links advertiser I love the Cash4Links concept and have no problem paying $5 for good quality article links. But yes, quite a few of my links have been on Gather.com and on brand new articles that were not indexed.

As an advertiser, it would be nice to be able to select the authors to work with or perhaps a prerequisite that the article is XX days old and in the Google index.

I've been with Cash4Links for a while and excited to see what Jon may have in store.

7Driver & Kengorden,

As a writer I can tell you, that you are right on! I don't do as much writing for
cash4links as I use to, simple because I am not set up to grab the links as
they come in. The writers with a shipyard full of people with C4L open all
the time are hard to compete with.

And personally I think this has hurt the advertisers. People can say what
they will, but I believe 1 article on the advertisers product and not about
blueberry's with their link at the bottom will get them a lot further than
10 that are not on subject, and have their link at the bottom.

I make quite a bit more by writing for others from my site which is ranked
anywhere from 1 to 4 both on G and Yahoo.

But that is not the reason, I write less for C4L. It is simple that I got tired of
keeping C4L open all the time to make 20 or so dollars a month.

I enjoyed writing for C4L and gave the advertisers what they paid for and
more. Actually I miss writing for C4L...

Have a great weekend,

HoneyJo

I agree with HoneyJo. Personally, my time is worth far more then waiting around on a street corner to grab up 20 bucks or so. And, I'm not convinced unrelated links are worth the effort considering the recent fiasco with JC Penney.. granted JCP is a big concern that stepped out of Google's grace and got whacked.. but it does point out a potential problem for anyone following this tactic.. Search Engines don't like it.

Oh, and I'd might add, I don't think Gather.com appreciate it either considering they are offering a free service based on advertising revenue.. which means, if they don't collect the revenue they are on the short end of the stick. Maybe the real solution would be for advertisers to take a more direct approach and BUY ADVERTISING DIRECTLY FROM THE SITES they want their links to be on. Now, if you look at the cost of doing that.. well then, Cash4Links is a great deal no matter where your links end up.
