Link to known exploit site (type 799) - is it me?
« on: June 13, 2010, 04:12:48 AM »
Don't know if it's just me, but I randomly check the links and have just put a new one up for a site other than one of Jons and my system has stopped the page loading with the following message:

Danger: AVG Active Surf-Shield has detected active threats on this page and has blocked access for your protection.
The page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Without protection, such as that in the AVG Security Toolbar and AVG, your computer is at risk of being compromised, corrupted or having your identity stolen. Please follow one of the suggestions below to continue.

Name: Link to known exploit site (type 799)

I have deliberately left the site name off in case it's legit, but will be emailing support to check.

So......... please check your links if they are not one of Jons.

I got something similar yesterday as well, but I'm sure it was one of Jon's websites. Thankfully my Bullguard anti-virus got it.

Muderick & Miah,

Just want to thank you both for posting this.

I'll be extra careful,

Joyce

It makes no sense that this would be one of Jon's site.  ???

Tradeview,

I agree 150%, ;) but then I never would have thought he could
be hacked (I mean totally hacked).

But he was, so I suppose there is a possibility that whoever
figured one 'could have figured out how to do the other".

Before I submit the links I have that are for Jon's sites.

All the links I've published are good. They go to either Jon's sites or one on wooden porch swings. I've checked them out.. no monkey business. However, I'm concern with the shear number of links I have been able to grab in about an hour's time. I don't trust this.  :-\

That's what I am talking about, Jon is way to smart to give us the same
exact wording on a link.

I have received only a few, and none today.. :'(

This goes back to what I am saying elsewhere. You won't see new links until you publish the ones you have.. this is the way it's set up. However, I'm suggesting that until Jon steps in and clarifies the issue it would make no sense to publish the links you're sitting on, in an effort to get more links, if those links are deemed the work of the hacker in which case they will probably be discredited.  ::)

At this point, since Jon hasn't said otherwise, I am assuming we are good to go.  8)

Admin support got the same warning message when they tried. Pretty sure this isn't one of Jon's sites but will check. I have removed the link from the posting, suggested admin remove the $5 from my account as well. Trouble is, still have one of the same waiting for verification and can't delete it. Think I'll ask admin to update the system so the links for verification can be removed in case this sort of thing happens again.

On another note.............. I'm in the UK, and most of the emails about new links come out in the middle of the night when I'm zzzzzzzzzzzzz ! Just got lucky with the weekend batch.....

I am on a different time zone as well, I merely have to sleep during the day  ;D and stay up all nite to get  very many links -- isn't life grand? Good that this is not my sole source of funds.

If it was the jogging stroller site, it's been cleaned.  So please leave your links in tact.
