One of the first computers that I had was an electronic chess game that a friend gave me the loan of back in the 80's. It came with real chess pieces that you had to insert into the board. The "computer" would instruct you where to put its piece by first flashing a red light alongside a column, and another alongside a row; and where the column and row intersected you would find the piece it wished to move. Then it would flash the red lights again to where it wanted you to move the piece.
Anyway, I absolutely hated this machine

(just thinking about it makes me feel a little mad!). So many times I thought I had the thing beaten...and then it would blink its red lights and make a move that I had not anticipated. If it wasn't for the fact that I had just borrowed it from a friend I would probably have stamped on it. I think the best that I managed was a stale-mate LOL
