Author Topic: Unhandled Exception - Settings.xml is denied - Can't Login (Read 1381 times)

I get this Microsoft .NET Framework error whenever I open IAWPro:

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Access to the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Instant Article Wizard Pro\settings.xml' is denied

Now I can click on Continue and use the program. To login I just throw in a keyword and it will prompt me to log in. It won't keep my login information with this error, though. When I go to the folder, I don't even see a xml file. I can't close the program by clicking X as it prompts that error window so I have close it via task manager.

WELL now I can't log in because it says my information is wrong. I can't click on either of the two options because the window goes blank white.

EDIT: I can log in now. I got two e-mails with my login information and both had different passwords. Didn't notice until now. But I'm still getting this error that makes using the program a bit difficult.

Right-click the application icon and choose "Run As Administrator"

I'm getting the same error message, and I am running it as an administrator.

I'm actually tired of trying to get the thing to work, and will cancel as the support is lousy. I'll wait for Rachel to tell me to run as admistrator. I'll say I am. Then I'll submit a ticket overseas and have to wait the next day for an answer that doesn't address the question.

I am getting the same error message. I have the latest .NET, and I run the install as an administrator.
I wonder if I should uninstall IAW2.0

You need to RUN as an administrator, not just install as an administrator. Once it's installed, right-click the application icon and choose "Run As Administrator" each time you run the app.

Thanks, it worked.

What I did next was right click on the icon, click on properties, and in the
compatibility section, I checked the Run as an administrator box, then apply,
and OK. That keeps me from having to right click the icon every time. Works great.

Why not include these instructions in your download email instructions?

even though I run as an Admin. I get this exception:

That's a problem with your .NET Framework 3.5. You need to download and reinstall 3.5:
