Not many Bing research results

I bought IAW a day or two ago.

I've just been trying things out, and found that IAW has real problems with Bing searches.

For instance, when i searched for cats, oranges and pumpkin (separately) on Bing, i got no results. I'd expect these to get lots of results, especially since i could search the same terms with Bing on my browser and get several million results.

Given not all of these would be good material, i'd still expect IAW to return the maximum results (in Custom Settings).

The reason i used Bing is i started to get lots of captcha prompts and related errors on Google, making IAW unworkable. I may pay up to DeathByCaptcha, but not until i've been able to evaluate IAW more.

When i was able to search on Google, oranges returned 33 - whatever that number is supposed to indicate - along with results for about the same number of 'related' key words.

What does the frequency number mean? It doesn't mean number of individual articles, since that seems to be the maximum results i'd set (100). It doesn't mean the number of times the keyword appears in the research, since that would be way more than 33.

Whatever the case, i'd like to see searches on Bing return results similar to Google in quantity. Particularly as it's an alternative to Google when the captcha challenges come up.

You need to talk to support and submit a ticket. The answer about "frequency" is somewhere here on the IAW forum in the early emails. I don't actually remember exactly what it said now. If you do a search using IAW and use a phrase, such as "oranges for marmalade" you get the results for the exact phrase, not the individual words, which is what you get in Google unless you enclose the words in quote marks.

Thanks Meg, i'll submit a support request.

Regarding the meaning of frequency in IAW, your explanation sounds reasonable, but it doesn't explain the results i got for the single words i used: oranges, water, pumpkin (ie each a separate search). But i'll fit that into my support request as well, and when i get an answer - if it hasn't already been answered here - i'll post it.

I've had no response to my support request - not even to say it's been received.

As such, i have no idea if anyone's looking at it, or if it's just gone to a cyber sink hole.

Did you get an automatic response within a couple of minutes of submitting the ticket? You should get an automatic response almost immediately, with a ticket number included. If not, check your spam box. Also, once you have written and clicked on "submit", you get asked, "would these articles help". If not, you need to click the second submit button.

When i checked my spam today, there was nothing there for when i originally submitted my request, but this could be because my spam only holds a few days of messages before deleting them.

However i submitted the support request again today, since i didn't know whether my original support request went through.

I included "Bing" in my subject, but got no automatic response for that. I did get an automatic response for a support request i didn't submit titled "Testing."

I originally used this title before changing it to the one about Bing. So i'm not sure what's going on. In any case, we'll see what happens this time since at least i know *something* went through, although i'm not sure what.

I'm pleased to say i did actually receive a response yesterday - although i'm not sure what it means.

The response was this: "I will forward your concern to the Instant Article Wizard team."

That's encouraging, but i don't know whether that means i'll get another response, or that's the end of it.

The coming days will tell.
