Threat alert when I open IAW
« on: December 12, 2011, 04:39:57 AM »
When I open up IAW I get a threat alert from AVG advising me that it has detected Artemis!2F0A3A5F0FD8 which it describes as a piece of known malware. I have uninstalled IAW and reinstalled but still get the same massage. AVG recommends me to quarantine the file. Has anyone else come across this?

No, I just opened up IAW there now and got no threat alert. I do not have AVG any longer but I noticed that when I did have it, it used to tell me that old pdf files I had had for a very long time were infected by some "new" threat.

Have you visited any sites recently that might had had a virus? I checked out Artemis on Google and one of the first sites that came up gave a procedure for removing it using a free anti malware program.

Yes, I got the same threat message yesterday and I chose to remove the exe file.

Now, I have to contact support because I installed IAW directly from its server.

I originally had the Pro version and had to convert to the new version.

Meg, many thanks for your help. However when I opened up IAW this morning there was no warning at all and all seems to be functioning normally. So I guess it's probably a glitch in AVG.

I reported the problem to help desk, so they were aware of this.
Hope that's it "done and dusted" ok for you!  ;D

I did the same. How do you get a hold of support?

When do you get the error? Immediately after opening iaw or after a query or what?

Immediately after opening. AVG then asks if you would like to remove threat. If you click yes it then removes the exe.

Sounds like a false positive. If you completely uninstall IAW, download a fresh copy from our server, reinstall and still get the alert -- it's definitely a false positive.
