Bad Live Stream
« on: January 30, 2018, 12:16:13 PM »
I just had to delete several live stream videos from my YouTube channels because the video DID NOT start at the beginning on all the videos. I noticed the video length was shorter and the video started several seconds into the video.

Is this a problem experienced by anyone else?  I checked ALL of them several times within IV before I rendered them. They all played as expected. I was horrified to see today that NONE of them started at the beginning of the video like they did when played inside of IV.

Please advise.

Were you watching the live stream from the public URL or from the "Live Control Room"? I ask because I've never had the Live Control Room show the videos as they are seen from the actual public URL -- it often appears to start a little bit into the video rather than from the beginning.

I did a search in YT to see where my video landed. From the search results page, I clicked my video to watch it.

And you waited for the video to begin at the proper time? I'm just trying to figure out the exact steps to attempt to reproduce this, because I've never experienced a video starting anywhere than from the beginning. The IVW server actually doesn't have the ability to stream a video from anywhere but the beginning of the video, so I need to see what external factors may be at play.

I'm pretty sure the videos had streamed already. I deleted them and scheduled them again. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank you.

Here you go Jon...

#Invalid YouTube Link#

The same thing happened on this video.

Note, I had the first slide (thumbnail) set for 10 secs.

IVW has to schedule the videos for PST because that's YouTube's time zone. Were you taking that into account for when you expected the video to stream? I've tested this extensively this morning and it's streamed on time each time.

Just asking lots of questions to make sure I can pin-point where the issue lies. So far I have yet to be able to reproduce it.

Jonathan,

The problem still exist for me.  ??I deleted my live streams and scheduled them again.  I believe they actually streamed sooner than expected.  They are still messing up with the video beginning part way into the video cutting off the beginning.  If you compare the videos, the live streamed video appears to cut off the first 9-10 seconds of the video.

I just sent an email to ask jon leger support with links to the correct video and the bad streamed video.

Hey Jon,

I scheduled the one I sent you last night around 8ish (EST) to stream on 1/31 at 7 am (PST) this morning.

When I preview the video in IVW and download, it looks good.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

I'll take a look at the support ticket and see if I can figure out what's up. I've been testing this today and running live streams and so far they're happening on time every time and the finished video is correct. So it may be something specific to the video. I'll figure it out!

Jonathan are you making any progress with this?  I would really like to post some videos, but I don't want to keep running into the same problem over and over.

Thank you.

I believe this issue has been corrected. Was your support ticket not responded to?

Thanks, yes that’s what Jon needed.

I’ve passed that over to him for testing now. I’ll update you when I hear from him.
