Error Msg: You Can Only .... Image Based Slides
« on: January 28, 2018, 10:55:02 PM »
Whenever I try to flip a slide image, I get an error message saying: "you can only flip image based slides".

Yet I got the image from within IVW's image search.

Same problem for repositioning images on my slides ... the image area goes black and it just doesn't work.

So I would like to know:
1. What does it mean by "image based slides"?  .... and
2. Does anyone have a solution to this?

Thanks

Post the url of the page when you're editing the video and which is slide you're trying to flip/reposition. I'll take a look.

Ok thanks ... here we go:

Can't shrink or reposition this one:

and this one:

I would LOVE it if I could just do all my slides in Powerpoint (maybe using some IVW images?) and upload them into IVW together with my script and sync them all in IVW and select a voice over. I signed up a couple of days ago, have watched the walk through videos ... but so far, I've found IVW to be very cumbersome, slow rendering, inflexible with image manipulation and time consuming. At the moment, I'm asking myself whether it's really worth $85 (AUD) per month. I know this probably throws a wet blanket over the "we love Jon" thing that seems to rage on here, but just trying to give some honest feedback.

I just cloned the first video, went to the slide in question and used the reposition tool to move the image just fine. Can you make a screen capture of what you're doing and describe what you're expecting that isn't happening?

I understand that IVW feels slow in comparison to Power Point, which is not video production software and doesn't do any rendering since it only uses images.  But if you compare it to other video production software like Adobe Premiere it's very fast. To accomplish the same things that you can do in IVW in a few minutes in Premiere (and like software) requires hours of tedium and also requires that you get over a very steep learning curve. Try rendering a 3 minute video on your own computer in Premiere that includes all of the animation and FX of an IVW video and be prepared to wait for another couple of hours before it's finished. :)

There are no plans of adding in importing support for Power Point at this time. The two formats simply aren't very compatible. As I said, Power Point is not video production software. If that influences your decision of whether or not to keep IVW, I understand.

Here's another idea Jon.

In the "Download Video" area, you provide the following options:

Download Video
Get Video Link
Download Captions
Upload to Youtube
Download Audio mp3
Download Narration mp3

If it's possible for you to add to this list:     Download Slide Images

....... then I could drop the .jpg images into Powerpoint, edit any images there, then export/import them into Camtasia (or similar) and then sync them there with the downloaded audio (voice+music) file from IVW.

I know you can do this on a slide-by-slide basis at the moment, but that would be time consuming. A bulk download would be great.

Is that a possibility for a future upgrade?

I have been using IVW for a while and I just got my first page 1 Google ranking for an IVW livestream video. It took me about 30 minutes, including adding an AE effect (which I had to redo because of a text mistake I made) and rendering and downloading to my computer and uploading to youtube livestream. I am also a reasonably proficient PowerPoint user and to me, it's easier to work straight in IVW. I have been very pleased with my videos. PowerPoint also has quite a long learning curve, especially if you want to do animations. Practice with IVW, try it out on lots of different things: even do one pagers, just for practice. Get an import script from articlebuilder or plr from inside the software, cut it down and create a video. It gets faster. One user made about 500 videos in a few weeks and got loads of views.

I just saw your comment about Camtasia and adding/syncing voice and music. You can sync text and voice in IVW and you can add background music.

Okay, I think I'm getting the hang of it.  To summarize:

(1) I was getting confused between THEME based images and IMAGE based images - this is why I was getting the original error message. If I put my own image as a "theme image" then i can't resize or move it, but can do so if it's just an image overlaid to the slide, as an "image image" (for want of a better term).

(2) I have noticed though, that if you choose to place your text to the left of screen and then select an IVW image, it doesn't resize it to fit the half-screen that is to the right of the slide. Perhaps this should be looked into? This is where I was having a problem, trying to 'shrink' an oversized image that doesn't fit on the slide properly.

(3) Another problem I seem to be getting now, is that the shadow containing the text, only goes across half the screen sometimes instead of wrapping itself around the whole text. I've attached a screenshot example, to this message.

Thanks for your feedback Jon and Meg   :)

For #3 it looks like you have the Sidebar layout selected. Is that the case? The Sidebar isn't intended to cover the full slide. Use the Bottom layout instead.
