Live Stream Didn't Play Video...
« on: February 06, 2018, 06:24:21 AM »
I scheduled this video: https://youtu.be/chkkqqqmtI4 to stream yesterday at 4:10 pm PST. As of this morning at 9:23 am EST it is still showing waiting for me.

Thoughts on what may be happening?

Thanks!

What time was it (PST) when you scheduled the event? And did you go back in and schedule a second event after scheduling the first one? I ask because you can only have one scheduled Live Event per video in IVW. If you create a second one it will overwrite the first one and only the last event scheduled will actually be streamed.

That's something I'm working on upgrading so you can have the same video streamed at multiple schedules.

Scheduled time was 4:10 PST yesterday. I did go over to the YouTube editor and make sure my keywords and description were correct and then saved. But, I did not reschedule.

Should I delete it and reschedule?

If you didn't reschedule it then it should have played. For the moment yes, go ahead and reschedule the live event. I'll look into why it didn't stream.

Okay...canceled the original live stream and re-scheduled another one for this morning at 8:30 am PST.

On YouTube it shows it streamed 41 minutes ago here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Why+Videos+Are+Important+For+Business

However, when you click on the video it shows still waiting for me here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhoOjhUpUs8

Thoughts?

Still trying to figure out why I can't get my videos to live stream?

Are there any options in my YouTube account I need to modify? I've streamed from this channel several times over the past couple of weeks and IVW worked just fine.

How many keywords can you add to your live stream? I have 14 on this one: https://youtu.be/lhoOjhUpUs8. It occurred to me that possibly I have too many keywords although YouTube will typically tell me that on regular videos.

Any thoughts or direction are much appreciated?

It shouldn't be the number of keywords in the tags.

Let me ask you this: are you scheduling the Live Event more than once for a single video? That is, are you creating more than one live event for the same video in IVW? If so that's the issue, as IVW will only stream to the most recent live event created for the video.

No. Prior to this video I had no problems.

I deleted this live stream after chatting with you about the fact it didn't stream. You recommended deleting it.

I scheduled it again and it didn't stream again.

Perplexed and not sure what to do?

What's the URL of the video when you're in the video editor? I'll copy it to my account and see if I can stream it or if something goes wrong with it on the back end.

Here you go...

By the way, I just streamed a video from another channel and everything went great. So, it's obviously something I've done or not done with this one.

Thanks!

There's nothing wrong with your video. I cloned it and rendered/scheduled it and the live event played on time and just fine.

Try this: clone the video in its Project, render/schedule the clone and see if that plays fine. Maybe YouTube has some kind of a hiccup with that one video for some reason?

Okay...did what you said to do Jon and it worked. ;-)

However, the stream completely cut off the 1st slide, an AE that was 8 second long and the 1st few seconds of the 2nd slide, which is the thumbnail.

Here it is....https://youtu.be/2pzH5LOVfbk

Is that YouTube or something that needs to be corrected in IVW?

Thanks for all your help!

That's apparently a YouTube issue. Sometimes YouTube doesn't record the entire stream even though the stream works absolutely fine.

My recommendation for that is to use one of the 10 second countdown timers as your first slide for videos you know you're going to stream. If YouTube cuts off a few seconds of that first slide you won't lose anything on the recording, and if they don't cut off any of the slide your viewers only have to wait 10 seconds to get to the content.
