Articles to Videos marketing
« on: September 30, 2010, 05:27:50 AM »
I came across a couple of videos this morning on YouTube about converting articles into videos. It seems that a program will transcribe the article into a video that has a computer generated speaker reading the article and some flashy back grounds.  ???

I'm guessing that it was an advertisement but it looked like a pretty good idea.

Has anyone ever run across this sort of thing?

Yeah, I've seen this quite a bit.  It might be a good idea, but I find the videos quite dull and boring to listen to.  I'm not a fair judge, though, as I am not a fan of videos for learning anything but how to use software.

This is just a follow on.

You are right JL. I tracked down some of those voice-overs on YouTube. They are indeed boring.

I can take an article and put some animated background in play, record it with a screen capture program,  and then read the article myself. Also, you can add all sorts of special effects with the new "Windows Movie Maker."

Just a thought. It would be a way to do "Article Marketing." But using computer generated videos? I don't think so.  ;)

I've been thinking about this, and what it COULD be good for is link generation.  If you're getting links from video sharing sites, it would be a great way to create a bunch of videos fast.  That would be a great way to get some good backlinks.

Almost all of the video sharing sites (i.e. - Youtube) have the the NoFollow attribute in place for outbound links.  As far as link building, it won't help much directly from those kinds of sites.

There are other sites that take (steal) the content from these video sharing sites and reproduce it.  Many times these have DoFollow links.  It's hard to say if it would be worthwhile as many of these kinds of sites come and go, and have little to no authority.

As far as the automated voice to make videos, they are very boring, and obviously created by a computer. No human would listen/watch them.  In my opinion it is video spam.

Now if you could get someone to read the articles and put them into the videos, and match them with your own images, then you might have something (assuming that the article is worth reading in the first place).

I think the automated videos concept is a good idea, but with the current technology, it only produce terrible videos, that really no one wants to see (and the video sites don't really want clogging up their sites either).

The voice overs are very boring. It might be easier to make a powerpoint or your own video.

I use them and other methods discussed here..... they are sometimes testy to listen to - I keep them very short....and I am unique because I listen to alot of foreigners speak on seo, linkbuilding, etc....and the accent and command of english makes it like listening to the robot text to speech videos from articles....

so IF THEY HAVE GOOD CONTENT I listen....

on the other side of that there re the arrogant, condescending control freak used car salesman selling products (many worthless and overpriced if they have some value) in the usa and alot of their stuff is garbage....but i guess they are not boring...

I came across one and the voice was so phony and horrible.  The product was good and the video just destroyed its presentation.  What happened to human beings?  Only takes 10 minutes.  Jon does it.
