Tips For Email Marketing
« on: April 09, 2010, 07:50:46 AM »
Your email marketing, whether its a regular newsletter or sporadic promotional messages are only worth doing if its going to interest your audience. You may be writing about important developments at your company - but do customers really care about them? If you feel you have to include news and information that doesn't have a direct affect on the customer experience, then make it the minor message rather than the main feature.

Yes, that's well worth remembering - your message has to be of VALUE to the customer and also be what they WANT.

I don't know of the number of emails I receive that are of NO value nor interest to me - if I wanted to read your blog about how you and your friends went scuba diving - then I would read your blog.  Email marketing should be targeted to help the recipient - not bore them
Good post

Keep that in mind when you write your "Author's Bio" as well! The same principle apply but soooo many people don't get it.  ::)

hey....
One thing that I would like to add is that for emails with multiple sections (like a newsletter) do the plain text cut-and-paste into html, but add a table of contents for the email at the very top--above the greeting. You can even link those to each section if you're feeling industrious.
Statistics show that people are increasingly deciding whether to read an email based on what's in their preview pane. So by teasing them with the various titles/headlines, you have a better chance of getting them to read more.

If you are really interested, search some tips in Google. The information is well elaborated for the benefits of the users especially the beginners in email marketing. However, you should be careful in choosing so that you cannot annoy other people.

Hi  Howarde

A couple of things I'm not sure about otherwise pretty good advice

2 Use personal stories - Tell stories (they don't need to be real) >>>> I would be very careful how you use stories that aren't true. Misrepresentation is a very serious offence

8 Send free things in the morning, and paid things in the evening, more people buy after work than during>>>> This is pretty hard to put into practice when subscribers come in from work at different times depending where in the world they live

Just my thoughts
Eliot

Tips for E-mail marketing:-
1.You have to huge list of Email Contacts
5. Do not send frequently.

Have you ever actually tested the 2 things you pointed out above?

One of the biggest boosts in my business is email marketing.  I disagree with the need to have a a huge list.  Someone with a list of just 500-1000 people could make a great living from it if they are sending the right information and promoting the right products.

Why would you not send frequently?  What qualifies as frequently?  1 time per day?

Some weeks I send an email everyday, other weeks it's 2-3 times per week.  You need frequent contact or your list will forget about you, gt distracted and move on...

Now, here's where most people go wrong.  The people that email frequently have a tendency to ABS (always be selling).

If you always sell of course, your list will get tired of that and will unsubscribe.  If you promote useless junk that doesn't work (or you have no clue it ill work or not) they will leave.

How do you get around this?  When you send an email make sure it does the following....

1.  Addresses what your audience needs.
2.  Only promote products that help address those needs.

I still love the old standard 80/20 rule.  80% good solid free content that will greatly help your subscriber.  20% recommending.

I use the term recommend over selling because if you're really doing this right you'll know the product you're promoting very well.  You'll know if it will really help your members and if it won't, do not promote it.

Too many marketers out that have this rule reversed and promote constantly and provide little to no good helpful information.  Some don't care as they get enough buyers to not worry about it.  But, if you really want to help your audience and earn a good living by doing it help first, worry about your bank account 2nd, it'll come.

But, message frequency is determined by the list owner and what content that owner is sending.
