Just wanted to give a quick update on this. I have answered a lot of questions on Yahoo Answers and had reached level 4 and a 30% "Best Answers" (ie 30% of my answers are rated as the "best" of all the answers made to any particular question.) I was getting a bit disappointed though, because a lot of answers I had given did not get rated by the answerer and so I had cut down on the time I spent on YA. HOWEVER, last night, one (or some) of the reviewers must have decided to go through old answers (they get points for rating) and clear out some of the old answers in the voting section. My email inbox became inundated, I had gained over 600 points at the point where I stopped checking and I had reached level 5! My "best answer" rating had gone up to 38%.
Ok - so why am I telling you this?
First, whether I post on YA again or not, my site links are STILL live on there and will remain so.
Second, I got to re-read some of my answers from up to a year ago and I can package some of those, maybe reword a little and post to my web site.

(Quick source of original material AND my copyright)
Third, it incentivises me to spend a LITTLE more time again on YA, because this same process (of review) will give me back more of my own stuff that I can use in a different way. Sometimes (most of the time), I find it easier to answer someone's question than to start to create a whole new article (mind you, JiffyArticles is a GREAT help there), so I will get more snippets that I can put into articles or use as starters for blog posts.
This week (1 - 7 January 2012) I have designated as my own personal "Internet income / blog creation" week. Any time I spend on the computer will be focused on this particular area (It is generally a hobby for me, so this gives me a guilt-free way of building a hobby). The Yahoo Answers bulk clearout was an extremely fortuitous send, because it gave me fresh material for my own use. It also reminded me of some internet sources that I had quoted and gives me easily found links that I can add in to some reviews I want to do. I am taking a week's holiday from my own studies and having a "rest" by improving my internet presence. In 2011, I earned $405 for the whole year from the internet. I intend that this week's work will allow me to at least quintuple that income, so I can start paying taxes on it (once I have covered my expenditure on web sites), while not affecting the time I need to apply to my studies.

This will give me a good basis for building on AFTER I finish my studies and start into my second work life!
