Last 3-6 weeks, I am getting frequent "errors found" warning from MWL system.
It is weird, as sites are working fine.

Also - i have 3 sites in MWL system, and both are on same server, same DNS servers, same Mysqld, same everything... but i get warrning from 1 or 2 out of these 3...

In hope that there is something wrong with my old hoster, i even moved all three domains to hostmonster - but still - problem with wrong emails is repeating...

It is slightly annoying - as i have to log into MWL, and click "You have sites with links page problems. Click here to correct them" and then "links page" of each site, and then "click here to verify your site"... And then every time system finds out that everything is OK, as Verification Test Passed....

Anyone else? Ideas?

I think I remember that this topic was discussed before - there is no good solution yet.
One idea would be that there are not only failure checks (I think Jon's system checked for several consecutive failures before sending out that mail) but success checks after a failure, too. So when a site becomes available again it should be reactivated automatically.
Another idea would be to monitor from different server and not only from one because I have the slight suspicion, that networking errors between the server which does the checks and your site/my site/all the other sites affected lead to those errors.
Monitoring systems like serviceuptime.com and others use a distributed approach with servers from very different locations like a server in the UK one in asia, one in the US, etc to determine whether the site monitored is really down or whether it is just a problem with the direct networking path....

just my 2cents

Mike

Yep, have the exact same problem with one of my sites. I was planning on moving the domain to a different server. Not sure what else to do...

Mike,

This already happens.  If your site fails the check the first day, but passes the check the second day, the flag is removed automatically.

Duh, it happens still - every other day...
Once I log in the system and do a manual verification of links page, it goes thru OK on first try...

Jon - if i PM you the URL can you see something more (the reason? for automatic failure of check?)

thanks,
W

It's probably because most servers run backups about the same time that the policing code runs.  I'm thinking about changing the time that the police code runs to account for that.

Hmm - my servers are located in Germany and probably there is quite a big time shift. Would it be an option to to make the time user adjustable? Make it a mandatory drop down otption and everyone could choose a time when it does not interfere with day traffic and backup times...

I agree with VideoMike... Same situation here...

Meanwhile I am still getting the "errror found" but less times and for just one (on random) of my three sites (which are on same hostgator server)... So no idea why... Jon - is there some aggressive timeout when checking?

I would like however address another problem - which is that even with Jon's new checking procedure, there are still sites in mywaylinks network, that DO NOT SHOW other member links, but somehow pass Jon's testing procedure.

I've found two of those sites (both are PR4), and open a ticket in JUNE, but Amin said he cant do anything, and forwarded the issue to Jon... I just sent Jon a personal message about it (with url of both sites), and I hope it gets resolved.

To me it looks like (presuming that Jon's checking mechanism is not broken in first place), that these sites are using some sort of screening, and they show right page (with links and evertyhing) to some IPs (i presume Jon's checking mechanism uses same IP every time), and no page/error page to all other IPs (including search engines crawlers)...

So my advice to fellow MWL users, is to check whether your incoming links really are live.
