The backlink data was coming from Blecko, but is now coming from an "in-house" tool of Jon's.

Sounds like you need to watch the video again. Particularly the part where Jon says "and he started getting links to it based on the fact that KeywordCanine said that it should be very easy..." among other mentions of building links to the site.

Of course there are lots of different things to consider. This tool covers finding niches and keywords.

Thank you for putting this so simply for a non SEO person to understand... I must have watched the
first video 5 times and never fully got it!

From the first viewing, I realized that it could be invaluable to someone working to get their site/sites
ranked, just did not understand that it could be used by someone like me that has nothing to sell but
themselves and their abilities.

Now that you have put it in 'four (4) words', even I know that it will be a tremendous benefit.

Sorry guys, I was wrong in my original reply to this. We are currently using Blekko and will continue to use them for our backlink data as they are very good at eliminating spam results and only showing the "good" backlinks. However, Jon is working on an in-house alternative that will provide even more data. That will be rolled out sometime in the next 6 weeks or so.

Thanks for sharing this with us Josh.

I kind of like Blekko, even with their smaller DB, but I would have preferred the SEOMoz data which I think the is the best thing available now that Yahoo Site explorer is gone.

For those who don't know how Blekko's backlink data compares with Majestic and the others, here are a couple of articles on this (notice that the first two are from 2010 so fairly outdated, especially considering the $30 million investments from Yandex at the end of 2011):

My main thing besides how great this software seems to be ( seeing as MS rank tracker is faulting ) I need to keep an eye on the ranking of my sites and keywords.
