So I was poking around inside NH and found:
* A niche with a total of 40K monthly searches
* A hot product within that niche with 5400 searches and SOC 304, the product sell for $200-300 at several stores that have good aff programs
* The productname.com site is parked, .net, .org, .info are available
The one thing that kind of hid this sub-niche from view was that it was grouped inside a niche that looked like it had SOC > 2m, because there are terms in the group with that high an SOC. For example "bose speakers" would be grouped together from "bose speakers", "bose speakers model 1", ... etc., and then one of these terms has a very high SOC. This makes the group look unattractive. Lesson learned: look inside those high-SOC groups also
