In Windows XP:Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds Tab > Windows Explorer > Click on "Start Navigation" > Go to "Sounds" drop down menu and set to (None)Or you can delete the sound "Windows XP Start.wav"(worked for me)Or you can turn your speakers downOr you can find a sound you don't mind hearing and call it "Windows XP Start.wav" for example "start.wav" is not nearly as loud.Or you can modify the .wav file

Go to the Start Menu and then the Control Panel. I find it easier if you click on Classic View in the left hand column.Go to "Sound". When the panel comes up, you will see Playback, Recording and Sounds. Click on Sounds. Scroll down in the box until you find the "Open Program" link. Click with your mouse and highlight. Then down the bottom in the Sounds area, change the sound to (None) - it's right at the top of the list. Click Apply and OK and you shall live in peace!
You have to find a solution for this, my computer native language is Dutch and I can't find the file to delete. Ask your programmer to make it run silently . In the main time I will disable the program when I don't use it.
