Hi all,

All I did was using audacity make a silent 1/2 second  .wav file named it  WindowsXPStart2.wav

Remember always copy the Wav files in different location for backup.

I made two  .bat (batch files) using the move command moving the (clicking wav file) WindowsXPStart.wav to windowsxpstart3.wav  next line move  (silent wav file) C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart2.wav C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart.wav

move C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart.wav C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart3.wav
move C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart2.wav C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart.wav
Note: If you want to be more creative you could easily add another line to start nichehorde after you have moved to the silent wav

To return your clicking wav file just create a 2nd bat file to move the silent wav back to WindowsXPStart2.wav
and move the clicking wave back to WindowsXPStart.wav

move C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart.wav C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart2.wav
move C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart3.wav C:\WINDOWS\Media\WindowsXPStart.wav

Place the two bat (batch files) on your desktop click the correct bat file when needed.
Caution you don't want to click the wrong bat (batch) file or you will lose the clicking wav file.
Remember always copy the Wav files in different location for backup.

Dos is old but it still works.  ;)

Very Simple.

I didn't even know about the issue until I read the complains here, lol
I'm on WinXP Pro - should work on anything.

Go to Control Panel
Sounds and Audio Devices
Sounds
In Program events scroll down to Windows Explorer
Select Start Navigation and change Sounds from the pull-down menu to None

I had it at None already, so I haven't even noticed the issue.

You have to find a solution for this. Ask your programmer to make it run silently

I made my sound into a cash register, kinda like it.

That is hilarious!

Fantastic!  A classic, "When life hands you a lemon, just make lemonade!" solution!  ;D   ;D   ;D

All MikeW did was to add the "sugar"...!!

Some gripe and complain...

Others find creative solutions!

Thanks, Mike W!!
