Low SOC but
« on: February 13, 2010, 06:44:48 PM »
I'll see a keyword with a SOC of 3 and has good search volume. I click on the SOC see the links has 0 to 8 links and the site links are in the thousands. Would this be a niche worth going after? Or do the links and site links have to be low? Also some of the SOC's have low number but when you click on them there are 100's of links and site links. Why would they have a low SOC? ???

The low SOC is because, although the sites have a lot of links, very few have links where the link text is the keywords.  That means that those sites aren't strictly targeting the keywords, but because they have other links that are somewhat related to the keywords, they still rank well.

Ok, but are low SOC results worth trying to compete with even though the links aren't strickly targeting the keywords? Or should I concentrate on low SOC's with few links in them? Thanks

P.S. Jonathan it would be nice if you had a step by step pdf file or videos showing how you use Niche Horde to find under the radar niches that would be easy to capitalize on. I guess by looking at the questions on the forum that I'm not the only one trying to figure out how to best use Niche Horde. I think people are hesitant to go out and buy several domains and then try to rank on the first page of google. Keep up the great work!

The low SOC is because, although the sites have a lot of links, very few have links where the link text is the keywords.  That means that those sites aren't strictly targeting the keywords, but because they have other links that are somewhat related to the keywords, they still rank well.

The search code "allinanchor:[keywords]" on Google does not give the same SOC number as the Niche Horde. While Niche Horde gives 43 SOC for the keyword "best exercise for weight loss", google.com returns “About 6,390,000 results.”

Please, how do I clarify this?

You need to type allinanchor: "best exercise for weight loss" rather than allinanchor: [best exercise for weight loss]

The difference being using quotation marks, rather than brackets.

Also you would need to scroll to the last page of google to see.
