Hi,Just bought 4 sites during the special - Great Deal!Got to admit instead of using the procedure in the transfer pdf I used WPTwin and -setup site on my Hostgator reseller site using cpanel on the ip address for new accountused Fantastico to install WordPressthen used WPTwin to install the cloned sitethe site showed a 404 error on the home page, but all links worked (as they all appeared to be absolute links)after the transfer was confirmed by Nichejet the ip is still serving the 404, but the domain is OKThis is the case with all 4 sites, and I'm concerned that it might have some seo implications.I've been involved with a fair number of sites (some installed before domains were ready), and I'm wondering why this happened?Never had had this happen before.I just tried uninstalling one and re-installing, same thing happened.Wondering if the only way to remedy would be to delete account on my reseller account and start fresh?Any knowledgeable suggestions/comment gratefully accepted. Thanks
Hi Meg,Unfortunately they don't seem to get what I'm talking about. Also, as I'm really on my own at this point I thought I'd throw it into the Forum.Lots of uber-experienced people here.Jon, Josh, you, etc...Thanks,
after the transfer was confirmed by Nichejet the ip is still serving the 404, but the domain is OK
Did you use "add-on" domain, when setting up in WP? Also, have you pointed your domain name from your domain name provider to your hosting provider?
It could be that the ip is shared then the ip address will come up with a 404 but the domain will still showHoping this helpsEliotYour site will only show on the ip address if it's a dedicated server
Try going to Settings, Permalinks, make sure Post name is selected, and even if it is click SaveSent from my GT-I8160 using Tapatalk 2
I have a reseller account and never use addon domains. The domain was purchased bey NicheJet, thus the "need" to create a site before domain was transferred.ThanksQuote from: Meg on January 10, 2014, 03:46:53 AMDid you use "add-on" domain, when setting up in WP?
