Yup, because we had a bunch of redirect sites in place (we have even more in place now). So it still does very well every month.

New accounts and redirects is the way to go.

That's something the help desk will need to address. You'll get a response, don't worry.

I also use whois privacy. No sense letting people cause you trouble (or getting spam) unnecessarily. Totally worth it to me.

I am not an attorney, so keep in mind that this does not constitute legal advice.

I would refer the individual to the Pinterest User Agreement that they agreed to when they signed up for a Pinterest account:

Notice point 2b:

https://about.pinterest.com/en/terms-service

Quote
b. How Pinterest and other users can use your content

You grant Pinterest and our users a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, store, display, reproduce, save, modify, create derivative works, perform, and distribute your User Content on Pinterest solely for the purposes of operating, developing, providing, and using the Pinterest Products. Nothing in these Terms shall restrict other legal rights Pinterest may have to User Content, for example under other licenses. We reserve the right to remove or modify User Content for any reason, including User Content that we believe violates these Terms or our policies.

You don't need their permission to use their image because they already gave you permission to use their image as you see fit -- within the realm of Pinterest. They also gave you the right to "modify" and "create derivative works" from what they posted to Pinterest. You exercised that right by changing the URL the pin pointed to.

Again, I'm not an attorney and you should not consider what I say as legal advice. This is just how I understand the user agreement they agreed to when they created a Pinterest account.

If you're handling the social media for another company it's best to use custom images -- even great stock photos will do. Remember that it's their reputation on the line, not yours, and you need to be careful to protect their brand. Most brick and mortar businesses would prefer to stay as "white hat" as possible, even if what's being done (keyword images) is 100% legal according to the Pinterest User Agreement.

I would play it conservatively for clients.

But remember, I'm not an attorney and this does not constitute legal advice.

ClickBank tracks it for you. Just look at the reports.

Close SM2 and delete the old database. It's located here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\SocialMultiplier2\SocialMultiplier2.sqlite

Run SM2 again and it will create a new database. And yeah, you're starting all over as far as having to put in account and job details, but SM2 will rebuild the followers/following/etc from your existing accounts automatically. Just be patient and don't shut it down until it's finished. Depending on how quickly Pinterest is running when you do it the rebuild may take a while.

Did you keep a backup? If not there's nothing to do but start over. You should never force the app to quit while it's compacting. Your database is destroyed I'm afraid.

I've been looking over our data since this change has been made by Pinterest and it looks like Pinterest adjusted their algorithm at the same time so followers don't matter as much. We're generating traffic from accounts that are less than 2 weeks old despite them having only a handful of followers (less than 30). It's not a lot of traffic, but then accounts that young never produced a lot of traffic. I'll report back once the accounts are 30-60 days old. That's when I'll know for sure what the impact is.

Social Multiplier 2 / Re: Subdomain guildelines for redirect
« on: April 23, 2017, 05:50:20 AM »
What I've said is that you shouldn't use a bunch of subdomains as redirects to the primary domain. Pinterest usually still sees those as part of the site "site" and will block the entire domain. But if you're just pinning to a subdomain that actually contains the content that shouldn't be an issue.

You can FTP the files as well. You don't have to use File Manager. So just FTP the .htaccess and index.php files shown in the walkthrough.

Social Multiplier 2 / Re: How to promote clickbank product
« on: April 22, 2017, 03:48:32 PM »
You can't promote the direct link (ClickBank uses 301 redirects that will get blocked by Pinterest). You can use a landing page or a redirect domain to send people to your direct link. Just avoid the "make money" products -- Pinterest will block those regardless.

If that kind of redirection is using a 301 redirect then it's not going to work. Pinterest blocks 301 redirects. The redirection scripts use javascript, which Pinterest does not block.
