Remember when reading this that I am not an attorney and anything I say should not be considered legal advice, but I just read a very interesting article on copyright infringement that pointed out something extremely important in the Pinterest terms of service. I'm quoting this directly from the Pinterest TOS page:

b. How Pinterest and other users can use your content
You grant Pinterest and our users a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, store, display, reproduce, save, modify, create derivative works, perform, and distribute your User Content on Pinterest solely for the purposes of operating, developing, providing, and using the Pinterest Products. Nothing in these Terms shall restrict other legal rights Pinterest may have to User Content, for example under other licenses. We reserve the right to remove or modify User Content for any reason, including User Content that we believe violates these Terms or our policies.

Again, I'm not an attorney, but what that says to me is that once the holder of a copyrighted image pins it to Pinterest, it's fair game for all other Pinterest users to use that image in any way they want on Pinterest and only on Pinterest.

Keep that in mind if anybody gives you any trouble about SM2 using the images they posted to Pinterest. And of course consult your attorney for real legal advice. :)

Social Multiplier 2 / Major update to SM2 just relased
« on: December 19, 2016, 05:00:24 PM »

I don't usually post about specific updates to the forum, but this latest one (version 2.1) is significant, so I wanted to go over what's been added:

1. Added Settings tab where you can configure email notifications for certain types of account errors.

You can now configure SM2 to send you an email any time an account is suspended, a site is blocked, an account is put into Safe Mode (where Pinterest requires you to change your password) or there's a possible issue with the proxy / Internet connection.

I recommend you not receive emails for proxy/connection issues unless you're trying to troubleshoot a problem. Proxies routinely have issues throughout the day so it would be unusual for you not to receive at least a few emails per day from each proxy when pinning 100 times a day per proxy. If you run a lot of accounts / proxies the email can get overwhelming.

The email is sent from noreply@learnfromjon.com, which means that the data regarding the error is transmitted temporarily to the learnfromjon.com server. It's heavily encrypted before being transmitted and is not stored on the server at all. As soon as it's used to send the email to you, it's gone. So we're not keeping any of your personal / business data on our servers.

2. Added the ability to pause all jobs for an account if the account is suspended, a site is blocked, an account is put into safe mode or there are connectivity issues (see the new Settings tab).

This was badly needed. Instead of causing multiple errors until you can get to the VPS to handle them, you can now configure SM2 to pause all jobs for the affected account when the error occurs.

3. Compacting the database will now remove any pins recorded in the database that are more than 24 hours old since the pin data is never used beyond 24 hours and occupies a significant amount of space in the database.

The space savings is fairly small (2%), but there are quite a few indexes that get updated with that 2% so you can see a small performance improvement from it. No need to hang on to unused data anyway. The more efficient, the better!

4. When Pinterest blocks a link for SPAM, the target URL that was blocked now appears in the error log (and in the email notification).

Also badly needed. The full URL will appear in the email notifications, and you can click on the error log entry to copy the full details and paste them into a text editor or something if you can't see the full URL in the error log list itself.

As always, your feedback on these improvements is welcome and encouraged.

Social Multiplier 2 / SETUP GUIDE - How To Configure Social Multiplier 2
« on: October 09, 2016, 07:47:24 PM »
This is a step-by-step guide that will walk you through setting up Social Multiplier to automate all of the important aspects of your Pinterest account(s). It assumes you have already created those accounts following the guidelines shown in the Getting Started guide within the software. If you have not yet read that guide, open Social Multiplier 2 and read it first.

Adding accounts is simple. Just enter the account details and click UPDATE. Social Multiplier will not let you add accounts unless the username, email address and password are correct.

Your account username can be found in your Pinterest account URL. For instance, if this is your account url:

Then your username is myusername.

What a proxy is, and whether or not you need to use one, is covered in the Getting Started guide inside the software.

Social Multiplier will automatically pin images to the board(s) of your accounts. To do this you set up pinning jobs. A description of each field and what it is for follows:

  • Tags - Tags are just descriptive keywords you can use to filter the list of jobs using the Tags/Filter form above the list. They do not have any impact on the job itself, but are merely there to help you should you have a lot of jobs and need to filter the list to show only certain jobs.
  • Account - The Pinterest account you want to create the job for.
  • Board - Which board should be pinned to. This board is automatically populated with all of the account's boards once the account is selected.
  • Randomly select board to pin to - If you want the job to pin to all of the boards in the account, randomly choosing a board each time the job runs, check this box.
  • Image Keywords - Social Multiplier will find popular pins matching the keywords you supply in this box (one set of keywords per line) and add them to its database. Those pins will be repinned to the selected account's boards, swapping out the source URL with one of the target URLs you supply.
  • Use my own custom images - You can supply your own images if you prefer not to use popular images on Pinterest or need the images to link to specific pages with specific descriptions. (More on how to load your own images is shown further down this post.)
  • Target URLs - A list of URLs you want the pins to be linked to. One URL will be randomly chosen to attach to each pin that requires a target URL.
  • Use Target URL - How often to use one of the target URLs in the pin. The original pin's target URL will be used the rest of the time. Unless you have some specific reason not to use the target URL every pin, it's recommended that you keep every pin selected because that will maximize traffic to your site.
  • Max Pins / Day - The number of times you want the job to run in a 24 hour period. The job runs are spread out over the 24 hours. For instance, if you set this field to 240, the job will run every 6 minutes.
  • Schedule - The days of the week and hours of the day you want the job to run. Unless you have some specific reason not to run the job every day, 24 hours a day, it's recommended you leave this set to every day of the week, 24 hours a day, as it will maximize traffic to your site.

You can specify exactly which images you want to use in pinning jobs, and which specific URL each image should target as well as the description of each pin. To do that you need to load a custom image file. Check the "use my own custom images" checkbox in the pinning job and click the "Load Images" button. That will bring up the custom image loading window.

  • Click the "Choose File" button to select the file you want to load the images from. It can be a CSV (comma separated values) or TSV (tab separated values) file.
  • If the first row of the file is not the row headings (that is, row names and not actual values), uncheck the "First row contains headings" checkbox.
  • If the file was a TSV, click the "Tab Delimited" selection button. The results will readjust themselves immediately.
  • Then from the three drop-down boxes, select which field of the file corresponds to the image URL, the target URL and the image description.

When you're doing with all that, click the Update button.

If you're still not sure, here's an example of a single row (you can have as many rows as you want, but they need to follow the layout shown below).

"http://jonathanleger.com/images/logo.png","http://jonathanleger.com/","Jonathan Leger has been creating software since he was 14 years old."

If it's still not clear, the first block of information is the link to the image. The second block is the web page you want people to go to and the final one is the description.

Social Multiplier will automatically find users interested in your target market and follow them. Many of those users will follow you back (typically from 10% - 30%), growing the popularity of your Pinterest account and increasing the traffic it generates when it pins. If users do not follow back within 7 days, they are automatically unfollowed by Social Multiplier. This is because Pinterest will only let an account follow 50,000 other users, so it's important to unfollow those users that do not follow you back.

  • Following Keywords - The system will build a database of boards related to the keywords you supply here (one set of keywords per line). Users following those boards will be followed by the system. This will build up followers for the account who have expressed an interest in your market, making the followers far more valuable.
  • Max Follows / Day - The number of times you want the job to run in a 24 hour period.

NOTE: Pinterest will let you follow a minimum of 500 other users and a maximum of 20 times the number of followers the account has. So, for instance, if you have 100 follows you can follow a maximum of 2,000 users. Social Multiplier keeps track of your account followers and will not attempt to follow more users than Pinterest allows. This is automatic and requires no additional work on your part.

Pinterest allows you to invite the people following your account to pin to your boards. This creates "collaboration boards". Social Multiplier will automatically invite other people to pin to any board you specify.

NOTE: My experience and testing shows that there is little to no benefit to having collaboration boards. This functionality has been included in Social Multiplier in order to make it complete. But unless you have some good reason to create collaboration boards, or wish to test their effects on your own, it's recommended that you do not use this functionality.

A description of each invite job field and what it is for follows:

  • Tags - Tags are just descriptive keywords you can use to filter the list of jobs using the Tags/Filter form above the list. They do not have any impact on the job itself, but are merely there to help you should you have a lot of jobs and need to filter the list to show only certain jobs.
  • Account - The Pinterest account you want to create the job for.
  • Board - Which board your follows will be invited to pin to. This board is automatically populated with all of the account's boards once the account is selected.
  • Max Invites / Day - The number of times you want the job to run in a 24 hour period. The job runs are spread out over the 24 hours. For instance, if you set this field to 100, the job will run every about every 14 minutes. The maximum invites Pinterest will let you perform per day is 100, therefore that is the maximum Social Multiplier will let you set here.
  • Schedule - The days of the week and hours of the day you want the job to run. Unless you have some specific reason not to run the job every day, 24 hours a day, it's recommended you leave this set to every day of the week, 24 hours a day, as it will maximize traffic to your site.

The Processes tab contains a list of processes currently running in Social Multiplier 2, the last 100 Pinterest account errors logged by the system and a number of maintenance functions you can perform.

Running Processes List

Every time any action is performed with any Pinterest account in the system, that action will be shown in this list.

Every time an error occurs with any job that is run, the error is logged and shown in this list.

Maintenance Buttons

Generally speaking you should never need to use these buttons. It's recommended that you only use them if instructed to do so when receiving support for any unexpected issue you may encounter.

Refresh Images - This button will cause all of the images loaded for all of the pin jobs to be deleted and for the database of pins matching the keywords in the pin jobs to be rebuilt. Depending on how many jobs you have configured, and how many keywords are configured for each job, this process can take quite some time.

Refresh Boards - This button will cause all of the boards loaded for all of the following jobs to be deleted and for the database of boards matching the keywords in the following jobs to be rebuilt. Depending on how many jobs you have configured, and how many keywords are configured for each job, this process can take quite some time.

Refresh Account Data - Social Multiplier keeps a database of every follower for each account, and every user each account is following. It does this in order to know when to unfollow people that have not followed you back. This button will cause all of that data to be deleted and rebuilt for every account in the system. Depending on how many followers/following users the accounts have, rebuilding that data can take quite some time.

Social Multiplier 2 / Please post all bugs and issues to this thread.
« on: October 09, 2016, 04:30:34 PM »
For the time being, please post all bug reports and issues to this thread so I can see them all in one place.

All bug reports / issues posted to any other thread will be deleted.

After the inevitable debugging process is completed, all bug reports should be reported to the help desk. I'll let everyone know when that time has come.

Here are some common questions / issues and how to resolve them. Please read this before posting any new questions or issues. If your question or issue is answered here and you post about it, it will be deleted without notice.

  • "The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

If you get this message when installing, you need to install the Microsoft C Runtime from:

  • Even after resetting my password, Social Multiplier still won't let me login.

If you get an invalid username and password message, and you've already tried resetting your password, the problem is most likely your firewall and / or anti-virus blocking Social Multiplier 2 from accessing the Internet. You need to add an exception to the rules for your firewall and / or anti-virus. If you don't know how to do that submit a ticket to the help desk (www.AskJonLeger.com). They'll give you some general instructions on what to look for. We can't give you specific instructions for every firewall/antivirus (they're all different), but we can point you in the right direction.

Social Multiplier 2 is not from a "recognized publisher". Therefore you will need to tell Windows to "Run it anyway" to install it.

For Mac, after adding Social Multiplier 2 to the Applications folder, you will need to go to the Applications folder, right-click the Social Multiplier icon and select "Open". You will get a warning, but open it anyway. You only have to do that once. From that point on Mac will let you open the app without a warning.

Login to Social Multiplier 2 with the same username and password you used for Social Multiplier 1 (if you are upgrading).

(Social Multiplier 2 will not run on Windows XP, but should run on all other versions of Windows.)

Social Multiplier / Latest Version - 1.133 - Updates Here
« on: July 02, 2015, 07:56:25 PM »
I'm going to post information about the updates here as they are made.

Version 1.133

Fixed following/unfollowing issue (Pinterest made some changes that had to be accounted for).

Version 1.132

Fixed auto-pinning issue (Pinterest made some changes that had to be accounted for).

Version 1.131

Pinterest changed the way it displays the username for some accounts on the page (it no longer does). So you need to add your Pinterest account username into each profile you use. The software will notify you of the need to add the usernames into the accounts until you do so.

This should resolve the logging in and out issue for the users that were affected by that.

Version 1.1301

Slight change from Pinterest caused Find Popular Pinterest Images not to work when creating a new pinning schedule.

Version 1.13

Improved unfollowing automation. Some people were having issues with the unfollowing not working.

Version 1.129

Resolved issue where a certain login screen would prevent pinning from occurring.

Version 1.128

Resolved a number of issues caused by Pinterest changing the way the format the follower count. This change prevented auto-following from working.

Version 1.124

Bug fix version. Pinterest automatically sets email addresses to lower case, so if you put an email address in a profile that had uppercase letters it would login/logout repeatedly because SM thought the login failed when the capitalized email address didn't appear on the post-login page.

Version 1.123

Bug fix version. There was a problem with parsing import files in the auto-pinning scheduler if the import file contained spintax.

Version 1.122

Added "Help" tab.

Version 1.121

New checkbox on the auto-scheduler form, "Do not pin image titles, just the descriptions." This will prevent the titles shown under the images from being pinned. Only the descriptions you provide will be pinned under the image.

Version 1.12

This is a significant update. On the auto-pinning scheduler you can now choose to search for popular images on Pinterest that match your keywords rather than searching Bing. Simply click the "Find Popular Pinterest Images" button instead of the "Find Images" button -- everything else functions the same. Pinning images that have proven popular on Pinterest onto your own boards can potential increase your visibility and click-throughs.

The creative commons and tall images only checkboxes do not apply on the Popular Pinterest Images search.

Also, you can now maximize the auto-pinning scheduler window to see more images at a time.

Version 1.1151

Bug fix version.

Version 1.115

Added a checkbox in the auto-pinning scheduler:

Use page image was found as image target URL (you can add your URL to the pin description).

If you check this box, the pinned image will be linked back to the page where the image was found by Bing rather than to one of the target URLs specified. You can, of course, still put your target URL into the pin description, but the image creator/owner will still receive attribution and a link if people click-through the image itself.

This functionality will only work for new auto-pinning schedules. Checking this box on schedules created before this version will have no effect.

Version 1.1143

Fixed a bug that caused some Pinterest accounts to repeatedly log in and out without Social Multiplier recognizing that the login was successful.

Version 1.1141

Pinterest sometimes prevents you from following more people until your own follower count grows. This version adds code to trap that pop-up from Pinterest and abort following when it is encountered. It will try again at each scheduled interval to see if you are allowed to follow again.

Version 1.114

Added new "Bulk Board Pinning" button on the Pinterest tab. You can pin the same pin to many boards at once. Very useful if you've posted a new article or product and have been invited to pin on a number of related boards. You can advertise on all of those boards while only creating the pin details once.

Version 1.113

Fixed a few bugs and also included code that should prevent the profile data from getting corrupted in the unexpected event of a crash.

Version 1.1123

Added  a "Skip first paragraph" option on the Auto-Pinning Scheduler when having Social Multiplier create snippets of your pages as descriptions. This will typically skip the introductory paragraph and get right to the "meat" of the article.

Version 1.1122

When new Pinterest accounts follow too many users too fast, Pinterest will sometimes block the account from following (usually temporarily). This update catches those block messages from Pinterest and aborts the following process until the block is lifted. To avoid this, we strongly recommend that you start off slow when following with new accounts and build up as your account grows and gets more followers.

Also there's a new "Run in Debug mode" check box on the schedules tab. Running in debug mode will stop all schedules from running (you have to run them manually) and run everything visibly in the Web tab so you can see what's going on.

Version 1.111

Lots of improvements in this version, most in the Auto-Pinning Scheduler.

1. There's a new checkbox so you can choose to pin only "Tall Images". Taller images are more visible in Pinterest and tend to get more notice and drive more traffic. Now you can opt to only search for tall images.

2. "Crawl Site For URLs" button (beneath the Target URLs label). You can now crawl your sites to get all of the URLs on the site using the built-in crawler, and save those URLs into the Target URLs box.

3. "Use a page snippet from the target URL" checkbox. If you check this box, then a page snippet will automatically be created by Social Multiplier and used as the description of the pin rather than the image title and one of the descriptions in the description box. Also, when checked, the content from the new "Read More Text" box will be added to the end of the description so the viewer can click-through to the page to read the rest of the article on that page. Use the [TARGET_URL] tag in the field where you want the page URL to go.

These three new features allow you to really drive a lot of traffic to your site with taller images and descriptions that give only the first paragraph or so of the article text on the page. The Pinterest user has to click-through to get the rest of the article. That, of course, means more opt-ins, more ad revenue and more sales for you!

4. There's now a Version Update Changes tab where you can see the changes that are in each updated version of the software.

Version 1.1076

Added the ability to use spintax in the Keywords field of the Auto-(Un)Follow Scheduler. Also fixed a few bugs.

Version 1.10751

Minor update.

Version 1.1075

Added code to restore the last good backup of the pin data should it get corrupted. Also, the Help and Affiliate buttons now work.

Version 1.10741

Rolled back a small change to the pinning method. Also, you can now use spintax in the Auto-Pinning Scheduler's "Pin To Boards" field.

Version 1.1074

Fixed a bug that would prevented multiple accounts from being able to run tasks at the same time without logging one of them out. That is, if account1@domain.com was performing an unfollow operation and account2@domain.com was logged in by SM to pin an image, account1@domain.com would get logged out and account1@domain.com would get logged in, causing the unfollow operation to fail.

Version 1.1073

Bug fix version. Corrects a number of small bugs reported by the new error post-back routines.

Version 1.1072

This version adds extensive error trapping to prevent issues that only come up occasionally from stopping SM from continuing to run. All errors are also posted to the LearnFromJon.com server and reported back to me so I can see all of the errors people are running into and what I can better work on the solutions.

Version 1.1071

Bug fix version to correct problem of a bunch of SocialMultiplier.exe processes being stuck in memory and too many pins being pinned at each scheduled interval.

Version 1.107

This version adds support for proxies. You can add a proxy to each individual profile by editing the profile. The proxy is used for every function performed for that Pinterest profile. This version also has a number of bug fixes and aesthetic corrections.

Version 1.1061

An update was made to the auto-updating app to fix a bug. Also SM was improved a bit aesthetically and a Help button was added that takes you to a web page where the help videos and best practices will appear (they're not there yet). There's an affiliates button on the main form now as well, but it's not yet active.

Version 1.106

On the auto-pinning scheduler you can now import your own images, page urls and descriptions from a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file. The format of the file should be:

Be sure to include the [page_url] in the [description] as well, so that people can click the link on the pin description to go directly to the [page_url].  Here's an example:

"http://mysite.com/images/product_image.jpg","http://mysite.com/product-page/","Buy this product at http://mysite.com/product-page"

Version 1.10541

Modified the auto-update to make sure no other instances of SocialMultiplier are running when it goes to update (which caused an error). If other instances are still running (e.g. following/unfollowing/inviting), it waits until those are done before performing the auto-update.

Version 1.1054

When setting up auto-pinning jobs, you can now click the new "Load Images From Schedule" button and load the images from an auto-pinning job you've already setup. So if you want to use the same images for multiple jobs (e.g. pinning the same group of images to different boards) you can quickly and easily load up the images now instead of having to go through the search process again.

Version 1.1053

Added the ability to search for multiple keywords when loading images into auto-pin schedules. Also added a checkbox to disable loading image previews (for those who never delete or modify the images anyway). No loading previews makes image loading much faster and saves a lot of memory when doing the auto-pinning.

Version 1.1052

This update adds the "Randomize schedules to appear more natural" checkbox on the Schedules tab. What this will do is, rather than run all schedules one after the other, it will randomly select one of the schedules to run each time. That is, if you have 4 auto-pin schedules set to run every 3 minutes, rather than running each one every three minutes, only one (on average) will actually run every three minutes. This way you can put a bunch of schedules in that post to different boards etc. and let the software randomly pick which one to post to and when. This will create a more natural, random pattern of pinning (and following/unfollowing/inviting). Keep in mind that this will affect all schedules, not just pinning.

Version 1.104

This update improves reduces memory usage by SM dramatically, allowing it to run much longer and on much more popular Pinterest accounts without running out of memory. This will certainly help with Virtual Private Server installs and PCs with less resources as well.

Version 1.103

Added Bulk Pin Modification functionality. You can now click the "Bulk Pin Modification" button on the Pinterest tab and change the text and/or link(s) of pins matching any text you wish. This is useful if your site gets blocked by Pinterest for spam or if you changed URLs/domain names/etc and wish to update your pins with the new descriptions (or hash tags or anything really).

You can change just the description text, or just the pin URL destination or both. You can also have the search be case sensitive (it's case insensitive by default).

Version 1.02384

Automatic updating is now an option inside Social Multiplier. Instead of having to run the installer manually after logging in, the application will update itself automatically and restart. In order for this to happen, you need to check the Automatic Updates checkbox on the Schedules tab, and the application must be Run As Administrator (to do that right-click the application icon and choose Run As Administrator).

This is particularly useful if you're running SM on more than one VPS and do not want to have to manually update each instance yourself.

Version 1.10235

Updated the saving and loading of auto-pin data to make it more robust. When running a bunch of auto-pin schedules at the same time, sometimes the tasks would attempt to overwrite the data file simultaneously, which would cause problems (sometimes corrupting the file so it is no longer usable). A backup of the last successful data file saved is now kept and restored if the data file gets corrupted. So this should help keep SM humming along better.

Version 1.10234

Updated unfollowing code to skip the newest 2,000 follows to ensure that people who have not had a chance to follow you back aren't unfollowed too quickly. Also improved the unfollowing functionality to make it more efficient and fix an issue where it would sometimes get stuck if the follower count changed while the unfollow routine was running (only an issue for accounts with many thousands of followers).

Version 1.101 - 1.10233

Minor bug fix updates.

Version 1.1

Major update. Added the ability to invite your followers to post to any of your boards. You can create a board specifically for this purpose or use an existing board. Inviting others to your board encourages them to pin to it, which grows the followers to your board and your account. The more people following the board, the more people will see your pins to that board as well.

This cannot be done manually, but it can be scheduled using the Group Invites scheduler at the bottom of the Schedules tab. You can invite up to 100 people per hour to pin to your board.

Version 1.09824

Minor bug fix update.

Version 1.09823

Solved the issue causing the "unsupported browser" message from Pinterest. Internet Explorer 11 is now being emulated, which should solve some stability problems for some users. Also, multiple account issues should be solved.

Version 1.09822

Minor bug fix version. Manually following a board would only follow the first user of that board.

Version 1.09821

Pinterest made a change in their underlying code that was preventing the auto-pinning from working. Modified Social Multiplier to match.

Version 1.0982

Minor bug fix version.

Version 1.0981

The application now supports limiting how much of the processor and memory can be used before Social Multiplier stops running scheduled tasks. So, for instance, if you don't want SM to run if the processor usage reaches 75% (which is important when you're running SM on a VPS, for instance), you can configure it to stop once that percentage is reached. Configuration of the maximum CPU and Memory usage is done on the Schedules tab.

In this latest release, if SM crosses the memory limit, it will also restart itself, dumping the memory that was used up by pinning and starting clean. It will not restart itself more than once every 30 minutes, however. Again, very useful for conserving the limit resources that may be available on a VPS and allowing you to run SM on even a modest VPS with 1 core and 1GB of RAM.

Before using Social Multiplier, you want to invest an hour of your time into watching the webinar that Amin Motin did that gives you a full education in how Pinterest works and how to use Social Multiplier to automate the Pinterest actions you would normally take manually.

YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS! It will help you understand the traffic-generation system of Pinterest + Social Multiplier and help you avoid pitfalls and missteps that could get you in trouble with Pinterest.

Unique Content Poster / What is Unique Content Poster?
« on: December 06, 2014, 03:14:15 PM »
Unique Content Poster automatically orders articles from iNeedArticles.com, the best content creation service on the web (in our opinion). The articles are ordered based on keywords you provide. Those articles will be used to post to your blog on the schedule you choose. We will attempt to have up to 10 articles available at any given time to ensure that the articles will be available when they are needed.

This means that when you first create a posting job, 10 articles will be ordered (unless you specify that less than 10 total posts should be made). Then one additional article will be ordered each time a new post is made to your blog (until the max number of posts for the job is reached, if you set a maximum).

NOTICE: These articles are not free with your Unique Content Poster account. We simply tie into iNeedArticles.com using their API, ordering the content for you automatically, and posting it to your blog(s) on the schedule you choose. You will need to keep your iNeedArticles account funded (we'll notify you via email when you run out of iNeedArticles funds).

NOTICE #2: Keep in mind that iNeedArticles is a service, and it's possible that the service may get a heavy workload from time to time, causing the articles to be completed more slowly. That doesn't usually effect the posting schedule for us, since we pre-order up to ten articles initially, but it is possible that some posting days will be missed if iNeedArticles does not deliver the articles soon enough.

iNeedArticles / The new "Busy Tax" explained. What do you think?
« on: November 15, 2014, 06:07:59 PM »
Here's the email that explains what the new "busy tax" is that was just implemented for iNeedArticles.com. In case you didn't get the email, this is it in full:

Hi Jonathan,

We have an important change that has been implemented
in iNeedArticles.com

It's called a "Busy Tax". Let me explain what that is
and what it means for you as an INA client.

Over the past year and a half iNeedArticles has grown
in popularity month over month. That is GREAT and we're
thrilled about it!

We have a lot of highly skilled, fast writers, and
normally the work load is NOT a problem. But sometimes
we get a TON of orders all at once, and that causes
the system to bog down and pushes turn around times
past our 3 day promise.

This (understandably) makes our clients unhappy,
irritable and upset that we've broken our promise.

In order to prevent that from happening, we regret
that we now have to impose a 'busy tax' when more
than 225 articles/rewrites get ordered in one day
(you can always see how many articles/rewrites have
been ordered at the top of the page with the other
queue stats).

This doesn't happen very often, so it won't affect
you very often. But when it does happen, submitting
an article or rewrite order will cost you an
additional one cent USD for every article ordered
over the 225 daily articles our writers can
comfortably handle.

This does not apply to ebook orders, only

That is, if 300 articles were ordered that day,
ordering another 500 word article would cost you
the base price of $3.50 plus an extra 75 cents
'busy tax', making the total $4.25.

Once the orders submitted in the last 24 hours
returns to under 225, the tax disappears. The
tax pays the writers more, which really motivates
them to clear the workload and get things back
to normal.

They make a little more money, you get your 3 day
turn-around (STILL at a fantastic price) and
everybody is happy.

Let us know what you think about this change at
the iNeedArticles forum:

Here's to your success Jonathan!
