1WayLinks.net / Re: Networking deindexing status.
« on: May 03, 2012, 01:52:47 AM »
I just checked my helper blogs (site:domain.com) and 8 out of ten show either nothing or this: Index of /images.
So I'm guessing that they are de-indexed.

Now what? I'm not too likely to buy another 10 domains, including privacy (which I had just added, thankyouverymuch).

I'm honestly considering giving this whole 1waylinks thing a rest until it's back up and running, if that.

Am I missing something/any good reason not to, please let me know, otherwise I think I will invest in other types services from here on out.

Sorry to hear that. Me and my colleagues, all using 1 way more or less.
Here is a good article helping to determine what is going on:

One other thing: do you think it's wise to use that feedback form: Feedback on our recent algorithm update ("Penguin")

To tell them about that? That there's no spam on my site?

Nothing much to lose I guess... or is there any good reasons not to do that?

Thanks,

Mark

I got a plunge from the parked domains around the 18th which recovered soon after.
Now there's one after the 25th, so quite probably the penguin thing. But Spam? Only thing I can think of is back links. I always varied the anchors too, but I had at least 50-60% exact match...

Otherwise I just can not see any kind of "spam" on my site at all. What do they mean by "spam", anyways?

As I understand it, this update targets exact match anchors and over optimization? What does that mean, "over optimization"?

Some top SEO's say keep on site and on page seo going, just watch the anchors...

Question: what about all-in-one seo and wordpress-seo plug ins by yoast and semper fi, are they still good to go? Or would that be over optimization?

Thanks for your help,

Mark

Well I went to godaddy and just paid a few bucks extra for the private registration, you can do that quite easily in  the domains manager...

OK all the blogs now have privacy applied, but for the three.us domains, they don't seem to allow privacy. What's best practice here, what would you suggest?

Thanks for your help,

Most sites are coming back now, so I think the odds are on for you. :-)

So would you, Jonathan, recommend to go for the Godaddy privacy thing? On the helper blogs?

Thanks,

Mark

Good question, I'd like to know that, too before I spent any money on this...

OK so I checked with Godaddy and they can privately register the helper domains...but it costs a buck: around a 100 for mine.

Should I go for it? Is that really quite necessary? Because then I will do it, but I'd like to be sure...

Thanks for the help,

Mark

OK thanks.
Btw, it seems clear that a lot of the links get de-valued, but that doesn't seem to harm the rankings too much as it were...

Hey guys mind if I ask you a question about this, just for clarification?
I got some helper blogs, all registered at the same registrar: godaddy.
Then I got those on a special different ip address host, but all on the same hos, only different ip's of course.
What should I do, I'm not sure I understand this properly: change the names on godaddy? Or the host? Or what?

Thanks,

Mark

Yes,

I can only back that up: myself as well as colleagues of mine have had quite a few sudden drops in rankings, only to recover same after a pretty short while.

Let's hope this is the same scenario.

What I don't like about this kind of real estate is that some dude can just pull the plug anytime, theoretically, and also very realistically it seems.

Time to reinforce my investments with alternatives to google, that's for sure.
