Penalty for resubmitting to link directories?
« on: February 16, 2011, 02:19:29 PM »
I have a review site with a general domain name, xyz.com, which I have submitted to link directories.  When I add new content, if I submit the new content, xyz.com/product1, will that be viewed as a duplicate of my original link submission or as a new submission?

Thanks in advance for the help?

Webpages matter, not websites. Every webapage has links, pr etc, they do not relate to websites.

You can have links going to many different pages of a website from the same sites.

Its not going to hurt you, but you risk the directory itself banning your account if they feel you are spamming their directory.

Account diversification and utilizing multiply category level pages of your site in addition to your homepage will typically bring you the most benefit.

You also need to consider what you want to achieve using this type of backlinking, are you looking at targeted keyword / mapped url ranking benefits or domain wide trust and authority value.

Best of luck....

The majority of directories accept links to the main domain only. Probably you can find a very few paid directories that accept deep links but free directories won't approve links to different pages on the same site. The best thing you can do is submit your domain only and diversify the anchor text for your link. Prepare 10-15 variations of the anchor text using the keywords related to your site and rotate the anchor text from directory to directory.
