There is a lot of theories out and about on how to best SEO a site. There are also some pretty good programs that can give a leg-up so that the "Bugs" that crawl your site will take better notice.
Here are a few:
- Use H tages. H1 -- H2-- H3 etc.
ie:
Title w/Keyword, H1
Article subjects H2
Sub Titles H3 - The main keyword/Phrase in article title
The main keyword/phrase in 1st paragraph. 1st sentence is optimal - Keyword/phrase density =/- 3 to 5 % 500 words = 15 to 25 Kws.( I personally think that a 2 to 3 % density is better. The trick to this is to use "Related Key-phrases" in place of the main Keyword/Phrase.
- Main Keyword/Phrase in last paragraph
- It is also a good idea to vary font features. ie...
Bold
Italicized
Underlined
The theory of that is that the google bots "think" it's more of a personal
post and not an Auto-Post. You might even try a colored background for
certain words.
- One last and main must do is LSA- Latent Semantic Analysis. That will take a bit of study but it's not really that difficult.
It keeps getting tougher to grab a spot above the fold on Google but it can be done.
It just takes a bit more determination.

Again, there are some pretty good SEO programs available and they all, more or less,
work on this theory
Hope this helps some.
