UK site stuck in position 20!
« on: January 16, 2011, 02:20:44 AM »
Hello,

Have a site on UK domain (2 years old) that has been stuck around position 17-20 in Google search results! The site has a lot of unique articles and some scraped content from a while back!

What's the best way to build links to a .co.uk domain? Does Google give more credit to links from UK sites?

Many thanks,

I can only comment from my one, non-commercial, site top of google (sometimes Wikipedia comes top). I change the content every week, by publishing the local community centre's weekly programme of events. I don't have to write it, they send it to me and I put it up regularly. That changes my content weekly, so it's always seen as something fresh. I also add occasional articles as well.

Using .co.uk domains is the best way, so look for dofollow sites that have this extension.

If you've the budget for it, you can buy existing UK sites with PR, make sure Google doesn't catch on that they all belong to you (hide whois, or different company/address, use different Analytics account...etc.) and link those to your existing site.  Sites with decent PR often go amazingly cheap, especially if you contact someone directly rather than on a site like Flippa.

Having your own private network in this way can be one of the biggest competitive advantages you have since most people don't do this.  Then potentially each site can pay its own way anyway with AdSense or however else you monetize it so over time they don't actually cost you anything.

Finding a blog network that consists of .co.uk domains is a good way to get UK links.

You could also try manually building links yourself from these blogs.

You need to try to get backlinks from sites that are actually hosted in the UK.

A link is pretty much a link, but if you are going to look for links from .co.uk and other UL TLDs then you could look at blog commenting from sites with UK TLDs. To find those sites you will need to search with an appropriate footprint.

Try doing Google searches for these:
site:.co.uk  "powered by wordpress"
site:.co.uk "Leave a Comment" "Name" "Website"
site:.co.uk "Leave a Reply" "Name (required)" "Mail (will not be published) (required)" "Website"
site:.co.uk "powered by wordpress"
site:.co.uk "Leave a Comment" "Name" "Website"
site:.co.uk "Leave a Reply" "Name (required)" "Mail (will not be published) (required)" "Website"

If you want other countries just change the .co.uk for whatever you need and if youcwant a keyword then just add the keyword to the search.

Haz fun!

well ,i dont think google has  any special link for ranking .co.uk domains, just keep getting link from unique content.

Yep, as long as you do not get thousands of links from 'obscur' country like china or pakistan.
