Will seo spyglass become the new YSE?
« on: December 13, 2011, 07:06:36 AM »
Hi, guys,
I wanted to ask those of you who have already tried the new database of backlinks in seo spyglass what you think about it. I've been using this seo tool for quite a while and find it quite good. I'm really happy they got their own database, because YSE is not working any longer, and I would be really in trouble if they didn't.
But i just wanna ask your opinion, guys, what were your experiences with the new seo spyglass database? Does it compare to Yahoo's? Cause I can't really tell from the projects I'm running. Was thinking to upgrade to Enterprise...

SEOMoz already occupies the space Yahoo abandoned.

Unfortunately, these are paid alternatives. I guess I will have to add to my list of tools/subscriptions.

Yahoo was a "paid" service in that it was funded through the Y!advertising model. Unfortunately few other sites could afford to do the kind of data mining necessary and not be a paid service. The only ones that really can are search engines, since they crawl everything anyway. But they don't want you to know how to rank out of fear of their engines being gamed (well, duh). :)

There are other alternatives, but I think all will have a light version that is free and a paid one.
openlinkgraph.net is a tool that is quite good. It often finds more links than openlinkexplorer.com (Which is powered by SEOMoz)
If you are looking for a paid service I can highly recommend  QBL (Quick backlinks Checker) which is powered by the link research tools of Cemper.com (http://www.linkresearchtools.com/products-overview/).

Hey Mike,

thanks for the recommendation - just found this by chance via a refererrer.

I just wanted to emphasize that we currently give away free QBL accounts at the moment here http://cemper.co/qbl1 for a tweet.

free means one month free of course - but then a price point of 19 really is WAY below what open site explorer and other products cost.

If any of you have questions about Link Research Tools, just let me know.

Also I'm new to the forum, but wondering if a JL-Special Offer in that new section would be interesting to you guys.

Hello Christoph

Welcome to the forum! Let me guess: You found this forum using the link alert function of the link research tools?
This is a nice demonstration how useful this is  ;)
A JL-Special offer would of course be a wonderful thing - although I could kick myself in the... because I just signed up for the superhero account a couple of days ago...

I am really looking forward to your contributions to the forum(s) here because I highly value your opinion on link building!

Mike
