« on: April 17, 2017, 09:51:06 AM »
Thank you in advance for the help.

If you have all ready have a VPS with hostgator for your main domain and the domain is registered in the UK could someone please answer the following as I am new to SM.

1) If you want to set up a lot of accounts do you set up a new VPS in the USA just for SM
2) If you have your VPS set up in the USA could you still link board images from your USA pinterest to your UK domain money website which is hosted by hostgator as at the moment I have only the one domain money website.

I think you may be confusing a VPS with shared hosting. A VPS of the kind needed for SM2 is basically a virtual computer you control from your own computer. It is nothing to do with the hosting you use for your domains. You do not needa VPS just to start off. What you DO need is a private proxy. Does your UK domain sell to the US?

Hi Meg
Again thanks for the help yes my domain has lots of content with
banners to my shopify store and affiliate links also waiting to see
if google excepts me for adsence , so the answer to your question yes
I sell in the USA.

You are right I am confused about VPS which you say is a virtual computer you control from your own computer, when I place in google VPS I keep getting hosting companies, I understand why you cannot say what VPS you use as everybody would start and use it then it might set of a red flag to pintrest but could someone give me a list of about 4-5 which I could choose from as I don't know what I need to look out for.

I have just purchased my proxies all I need know is the VPS.

I don't use a VPS. I have SM2 open on an old laptop that I keep running 24 hours a day. I have 9 accounts on the first instance and have just started another instance with just one account on it so far. When I first started SM2, I turned the laptop off each night and restarted it in the morning. It still worked fine, though of course, fewer pins.

I an running 10 accounts (at the moment) from the same device using proxies inside Social Multiplier. That is what SM2 is designed to do. On one copy of SM2, I have 9 different Pinterest accounts, each pinning to different Boards within that account. I recently created a second instance of SM2 on that same laptop and it currently has one account on it. I will be adding more soon. It is the PROXIES that are important, not the VPS.

I did a search on Google for proxies. There are lots of providers but you do have to be careful because not all proxies are suitable for use with Pinterest. Some people burn the heck out of proxies using them for spam and then discard them and get another. You definitely do not want those! Pinterest will ban your account straight away before you even get a chance to pin!

You will need one proxy for each Pinterest account. The proxies must be private (not shared with anyone), static (do not change their "address") be in the USA and suitable for use with Pinterest. Check those points with any possible provider. It is best to have proxies in different US cities, so they are as far apart as possible. Not all providers can do this. In a group of ten proxies, you may only have two cities available. It is important to create your accounts slowly, that is, do not create 10 different Pinterest accounts on the same day. Pinterest seems to be able to check for unusual activity like this and you may get all accounts banned simultaneously!

There are training videos and information at the top of this forum for setting up SM2. Just follow those.

US proxies because SM2 uses the Pinterest API but only the US one. Your website hosting doesn't really matter, except that most viewers on Pinterest will be US based, so you need to make sure any website or pages are of US interest.
