How do you guys handle the flood of messages and requests?
« on: January 09, 2017, 06:43:13 AM »
Hi all,

I am about to hit a thousand followers for my first Pinterest account and I keep getting a ton of messages and requests to collaborate on boards, or subscribe or buy something. Even friendly messages from my new found fans...... ;D Some are actually looking to chat with me.... :o

As I grow even more "popular", these are going to increase....

I just wonder how do you guys deal with all these? Any sort of guidelines? I don't want to get bogged down in social media interactions. Facebook is more than enough for me. As long as I make more money (with Pinterest), I am happy.  ;D

I delete them all without reading.

Even flirtatious messages from (hot) women?  ;D

Even ones with different Pinterest accounts with different pretty girl photo with the exact same message?

It doesn't look like these are fake accounts. These girls are treating Pinterest like Instagram.

Don't forget women make up the majority on Pinterest....

Yes... may depend upon your niche. But I have received a lot of spam messages, obviously from those with programs similar to SM2. They must be told to use ")" a lot in their posts to make it look like a grammar error, and to look like someone unsophisticated for the mercy from you to respond in some way that they will capture a click or sale.

I actually read ALL comments and requests, if it looks genuine then it will either answer or join additional boards.....yes a lot of them are spam, but you do also "spread your wings" by joining more boards, and it is all about networking at the end of the day....carrying on in a completely autumated way is not the way forwards or we are no better than all the other botting methods.

I don't have time to read them because I have too many accounts.  Mass accounts are going to make you more than manually reading and replying to this stuff.

I would beg to disagree, i run just under 40 accounts currently and it's an integral part of both growing your following and appearing natural to Pinterest who I am sure do monitor how and if email notifications are handled....it's simple enough to resolve if you don't want the "noise" just switch off the settings on your accounts :)

Makes sense you can do all that manual work with only 40 accts.  Glad you feel it is paying off.

It is tough enough with a few accounts, not to mention 40 accounts. There are plenty of nonsensical pins that the software pins to your boards which need removal. Not to mention loads of irrelevant pins which will mess up any specific (targeted) boards that you create. When you check back you will surely see them.

It is the maintenance that sucks. The best setup is still automated + manual. I do wish SM2 was smarter...

Jon, I find that I need to login every day to check up on my boards and delete the totally irrelevant pins because there are always irrelevant pins that get through, and I only realized this after being "away" for a few days, LOL.

One of my boards was only meant for a subgenre, but SM2 has mixed it all up by pinning (quite) unrelated images and now all my boards look similar in content, even though their names are different and they are meant for different things. I can't delete them otherwise I would be deleting a whole bunch of pins, so I had to concede defeat and rename my boards to better match the pins.

And it includes varying my pin numbers as well. How am I going to setup multiple accounts in future and maintain them if this takes up too much time?

Answering PMs from people, etc. is the other thing. I've gotten inundated with requests to collaborate on boards, etc. All of which I ignore.....But that's ok, if cute chicks want to chat with me :)

SM2 pulls pins that Pinterest returns for the keywords provided. If the pins Pinterest returns are unrelated, that's what SM2 shows.

If your market is too narrow that's going to happen a lot. Widen your market.

Jon, I was just looking around and trying different things with these Pinterest images and noticed that you can retrieve even more accurate images through SM2.

If you go beyond the search related images, if you filter them down even more by using the same keyword and looking for it in the Pin's description.

For example, say you're looking for fitness shoes. Obviously Pinterest is going to give you images that have nothing to do with shoes.

Now if you search the Keyword "Shoe" in the description of the pin, 90% of the images are now going to contain fitness shoes because it was in the Pin's description that the software pulled it from.

Then the unrelated pins are going to be wiped away, almost all of them. The description is even more accurate than the Pinterest search result itself!

What do you think?

Filter: Pinterest Search "Keyword" Results followed by the Pin Description Filter after identifying the images in the first step of the filter.

I hope you understand what I mean. Have a look for yourself.

I used the DownAlbum extension for Chrome for this process.
