Can TBS save My Favs
« on: November 25, 2011, 04:30:13 AM »
I'm a new user of TBS, and I installed TBS 3.2 on my Windows XP, with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.

As I'm a new user, I like to do some customization for the tool to work well for me. I like the system to be able to save "Protected Terms".

However, when I click the button "Manage My Favs", the screen looks a bit strange that it doesn't have a close button, or the "X" button on the top right of pop-up window. I get to right click it on the task bar in order to close the pop-up window.

And seems it can't save my settings in My Favs. I added a new category inside, added some terms. After quit TBS and restart, my settings in My Favs is lost.

Does anyone meet the same problem? Is there any way to solve this problem? Its quite annoying indeed, that every time I get to setup MyFavs all from the beginning.

And does anyone know where can I see the error log of TBS? As I played with functions like protected terms, replace my favs, and everyone's favorites, after a few times the system crash, and it shows Unhandled Exception. Anyway I can log it down, so I can send to the support to look into the problem?

Thanks.

Have you got Win7? Can I guess that you have an aero theme and the screen set to 125%? If so, you may not be able to see the buttons. Control panel / Display / 100% may get you seeing your buttons again.

I don't use Aero theme, and I don't have any special settings on my Windows.

I'm using Windows XP, default theme (I haven't changed the theme), 1280 x 1024 resolution. No special setting.

So I don't know why there is such problem.... Should the close button be there?

In TBS3, the "Manage my favourites" window has a "save" button and a "close" button down at the very bottom right hand side of the window. I keep the resolution on my screen at about 125% to let these old eyes read everything clearly. If I had the resolution at 100%, the buttons would be clearly visible. At 125%, only the top half shows. However, I know they are there and the top bits will work ok (they highlight when I mouse over them), so I can use them, because I know which button is which.

That's wierd then... I don't see the Save or Close button...

I've attached the screen capture of my TBS. It is the pop-up window after I pressed "Manage My Favs". I've tried to resize the pop-up windows by dragging at the lower right corner, no new button show up...

Any idea? I'm using a non-English Windows XP (it is Windows XP Chinese edition). And I installed .NET Framework up to version 3.5 SP1 (also installed version 1.1, version 2.0 SP2, version 3.0 SP2), would they be too new for TBS?

Hope the problem can be solved eventually... Thanks a lot.

Oh I found even I shrink the image to under 50KB, it still cannot upload to here. It said the upload folder is full...

Yes upload folder hasn't worked for a long time now. You will have to put the picture somewhere, then post the link.

Check out Page 83 of the TBS Users' Guide http://jlforums.com/tbs-version-3-beta/full-pdf-user's-guide-completed-here's-the-link/msg38473/#msg38473 to see a graphic of the "Manage my favourites" window, showing the save and close buttons. They are there. I know that in Win7 they do not show up if the display size has been increased. Check out your display in the control panel.

I see. So here is my screen capture:

http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x338/aercha/TBS_MyFavs.jpg

Even I drag the pop-up window larger, I still can't see the buttons. The input boxes get larger, and original buttons go lower, but no new buttons appear...

Again I used Windows XP Professional SP3 (Chinese edition), 1280 x 1024 screen resolution, default theme... The problem is quite strange indeed...

So I guess with the "Save" button, I can be able to save all My Favs settings, no need to input all over again every time. But right now I just can't see the "Save" button... Any idea?

You could ask help desk http://askjonleger.com/support/ or you could try changing your screen resolution.

Hi

I'm not up on TBS3 because I don't use it a lot
but, like Meg says, try altering the screen resolution
because just altering the size of the box also alters the
content of the box so nothing happens.

If you alter the screen resolution then the contents
should be visible (hopefully)

I have a widescreen monitor and my resolution is set
at 1366 x 768 so you may have to play around with your settings
