Did you copy and paste from a website? You need to turn the text into plain text. What is copied from a website maybe encoded like you see in the image. The browser can read it but a plain text editor cannot. It looks like it is written in the font wingdings

I don't know why you're getting those weird characters.

Assuming your operating system language is set to English then the normal system font should be in use.

If you copy and paste those weird characters from the TheBestSpinner window into something like Notepad, do they get converted into normal text?

Yes, my operating system language is set to English and yes, if I copy from TBS into notepad they get converted into normal text.

Did you check what font is showing in the settings and options tab? I can't tell from the screenshot above.

I am having the same problem as the original post author. However, after reading this thread I discovered there are no fonts  in the drop down list to select. How do I install fonts so I can select a font? Should the application come with a default font? Please help.

I checked my own TBS and there is no longer any font showing there. But I can still use TBS OK. It must be using the system font. Here is a screencapture

I wonder whether your copy of TBS has got corrupted? You could try uninstalling, restarting your computer (to get rid of any lingering glitches) then download and install a fresh copy. It's pretty simple, as long as you have your password saved. The TBS download is at the top of this forum. http://jlforums.com/tbs-version-3-beta/tbs3-download-location-and-current-videos/msg35283/#msg35283
