TBS isn't spinning
« on: January 01, 2018, 03:11:21 PM »
I have added articles to TBS but it won't spin. I get a message saying "Unhandled exception..."

I am using the latest version.

Click on the "details" button and copy and paste all the information here. I will take a guess though that your computer is not contacting the server. This is usually because the antivirus is stopping it. Check your antivirus and allow TBS as an exception. This can happen if your antivirus updates or you get a new one or you have just installed TBS.

Thanks for getting back. I use Windows Defender.  What should I add as the exclusion?  Here is the report from details.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

No, it doesn't look like the antivirus problem. You will need to copy and paste that information to helpdesk and they will be able to help. https://askjonleger.desk.com/

Generally this error is caused by one of the following:

1) Your firewall is blocking the application from accessing our server properly. You can test it by briefly completely disabling your firewall temporarily and trying to run the program again. If you manage to get the application running again it was your firewall that was blocking you. Be sure to re-enable your firewall after the test.

There's usually a setting you can change to instruct your firewall to let the application access the internet.  If you're unfamiliar with how to do that please consult the Help file of your Windows Operating System.

2) You could have a proxy server set up on your machine, or your ISP runs a proxy service. If that's the case you'll need to find a way to allow the application to bypass any such proxy entirely. It needs direct access to the internet.

3) Your computer is not connected to the internet at all for one reason or another.
