Unhandled exception

Yes, I'm sure that this has be address elsewhere, but has ANYBODY resolved the following issue:

" Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click
              Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If
              you click Quit, the application will close immediately."

I've done the re-install hokey cokey, to no avail.  I'm running Windows XP with all the latest service packs.
